a (kind of but not really) fancy giveaway! ooo la la.

The day has finally come!

My blog is two years old and I finally decided it is time for a....... (drum roll noise here.... drdrddrdrdr) GIVEAWAY! It's not a giveaway worth peeing your pants over because I'm ghetto and I'm not famous enough to have a sponsor provide one.... buuuuut I can tell you, the giveaway I'm putting together is something cute and anyone who likes free things, will like this giveaway.

Here is what the giveaway will include:
1. My two favorite nail polishes. (brand new) They are Sally Hansen Insta-dri - Magenta Motion and Brisk Blue. The Brisk Blue one looks way cute on toe nails.

2. Several Instax photos. I will go around Salt Lake City and take pictures of all my favorite spots, buildings, views etc.

3. A framed quote. I went through a phase where I would go to the craft store, load up on cute print paper, put my favorite quotes on them and frame them. Like this:
For this one, if you win the giveaway, you can request a specific quote or you can have me do the quote I have in mind. Note: The one in the picture above, isn't the one I'm giving away. That is just one I have in my apartment.

4. Fry sauce! Fry sauce is a Utah thing. And it's also a wonderful thing I am grateful for every time I eat fries. Essentially, it is ketchup and mayo mixed into one sauce. Don't diss it til you try it. I will be sending the winner a bottle of fry sauce... purchased from the store of course.

Rules to enter:
1. You must be a follower.
2. You have to comment on this post. Nothing special, you can tell me anything you want. Like... why you want to win, a secret, what you ate for breakfast this morning, a song that is stuck in your head, a funny joke, a hidden talent. Pretty much, comment anything and I will have my handy dandy number generator pick the winner from the comment box.
3. Don't think this giveaway is lame even though it is. It's the best I could do.

You will have until Sunday night to enter/comment and I will be announcing the winner on Monday!

the pros and cons of a free concert.

Tonight I scooted my cheap self down to Pioneer Park to join in the hot, sweaty and elusive crowd that was there to watch a free concert. Usually I like to avoid crowds that are full of unkempt, smelly, filthy, boisterous, and vexatious people. But if being one of those unkempt, smelly, filthy, boisterous and vexatious people means I get to watch the band Bright Eyes play music for FREE then I am terribly quick to join.

First things first. My favorite Bright Eyes songs are: Lua, First Day of My Life, Road to Joy, and Poison Oak. If you don't know who Bright Eyes is and you look up these songs and end up falling in love with them, you're welcome.

As I was standing in the crowd watching all the different kinds of people socialize and do questionable things around me, I realized all the many pros and cons of attending a free concert that is held at a park.

Pros:
+ You get to see a skilled band play your favorite songs in a park.
+ You have something to do besides sit in your apartment changing the words to a commercial song that you have stuck in your head.
+ People watching paradise.

Cons:
+ You breath secondhand smoke for 2+ hours. *cough cough cough COUGH COUGH* < that was me doing my best dramatic cough impression.
+ You get mysterious liquids spilled on your feet/shoes and since it's so crowded you can't avenge the person who caused such an outrage.
+ People who smell like they haven't showered since 1994 will rub up against you.

some people turn to alcohol to numb a long day...

...and some people turn to strawberries, raspberries and fruit Gushers. And that happens to be me today!

Also, I'll be honest. I got these Rockstar Energy drinks (pic below) for two reasons. Firstly, the can is pretty and makes me feel like I'm a teenager again. Secondly, it came with a BENDY straw... ATTACHED AT THE SIDE. It should be a law that bendy straws are required to come with every type of beverage. Bendy straws will save the world some day.

At work today, we had something so glorious installed. It attracted many, many employees and we all stared and went "ooooo" and "aaaahhh" What was this new glorious thingy? A FREE FOUNTAIN SODA MACHINE!! Yes, yes. That means we can now get: Coke, Root Beer, Sprite, Dr. Pepper, and Lemonade for FREE at our disposal. This is wonderful news for my wallet and tragic news for my health and diet. And I should probably tell you that I am obsessed with free things. If I hated soda or was even allergic to it, I would be drinking out of this machine just for the one and only reason it is free.

One last thing, I made my first ever car payment yesterday. I feel like such a big kid now. Go me.
