hahaha.

Nothing is funny. I just didn't know how to start this off.  I want to clean the kitchen and tidy up a bit around here but I know that's now gonna happen right now so I'll just blog.

Right now I am going to talk about marriage. I am nowhere near marriage and have no experience in the marriage department... so what better person to discuss it, right? Ha ha I am dumb. So here goes...

My view on marriage is really simple. I think people should marry the person they love when the time is right for them. I really dislike how society and the media portrays marriage these days. They make it seem like once you get married your life is over and the unhappiness begins and it will end in divorce anyway. Hearing people say this just breaks my hopeless romantic heart.

Pretty much, I think your marriage is what you put into it. If you want a happy, loving, exciting marriage then you are going to have to put that exact effort into it. But if you think marriage is the end of your "life" and nothing great happens after you are married, then that will probably happen and you shouldn't be getting married. I understand that some marriages have really tough issues that have no other choice but to be resolved by divorce but I don't like hearing people talking as if divorce these days are inevitable. Relationships aren't 50/50, they are 100/100. Relationships are hard work and require a daily effort, as long as both people in the relationship are willing to put in that effort, it can be a happily ever after.

As for the people who think "life is over" once you say "I do" is just ridiculous. You have control over what you do in your life and in your free time and in the marriage/relationship. If you still want to do fun things after you are married then do them. Marriage doesn't have to be "yours" and "mine", it is about compromise and making things work.

Again, I have no experience in this stuff, these are just my thoughts. Just please don't tell me that marriage is useless and you will just get a divorce anyway. It will make me cry.

things that must go - #5

Things that must go #5:

EVERYWHERE being closed on Sunday here in Utah. Or closing too early. UGH. Sundays in Utah can be the worst sometimes.

soooooo hot.

Yesterday, I made the poor choice of spending the most hot hours of the day outside. I was walking and then sitting and then sweating from 12:45pm - 3:30pm. It was SO HOT. Every once in a while a teeny tiny cool breeze would come but it didn't last long enough. Why was I sitting in such awful heat? Well I am a University of Utah football fan and yesterday happened to be their spring game.

I am kind of a baby when it comes to intense weather conditions. For example...

When it's superfreaky hot like it was yesterday, I declare:

"UGH, Being hot is the worst feeling ever. I would rather it be freezing 0 degree weather any day over this awful heat!!" And that's just the start of my declarations or complaining.

When it's superfreaky freezing cold (like how I wish it is when it's hot) I declare:

"UGH. Being cold is the worst feeling ever. I would rather it be scorching hot weather any day over this miserable coldness!!"

See? I am a baby who basically prefers any weather condition opposite of what the current one is. After the game was over, I had to walk UPHILL to get back to my car. UPHILL IN INSANE HEAT. I kept thinking "omg, what if I was in the desert right now?" and then I would have a mini panic attack on how miserable it would be.

On the way home, I stopped at the gas station and got the biggest water bottle and pretty much drank it all before I pulled out of the gas station. I got home and took a nice cool nap on the nice cool sheets.

There are 3 major things that will make me a grump ol' girl. Those three things:

1. Lack of sleep / being woken up from my slumber.
2. Being hungry for longer than 1 minute.
3. Being outside in intense cold or heat.

Sometimes all these happen at the same time. If you are ever with me when all three occur at one, I am giving you permission now to shoot me with a tranquilizer. EVERYONE around you will thank you.

concert at daybreak. kind of.

Local live concert. Attendance: That guy.

This photo was captured out at my sister Shandey's neighborhood.
We went to this bakery shop to get some cupcakes and brownies and they had live music played right outside.
I got two vanilla cupcakes and one cotton candy one. Gave one vanilla to my crazy, wild niece Lola.
You guys, she freaks over cupcakes... or any sugar for that matter.

Anyway, that is all.
p.s. I am completely addicted to ranch sunflower seeds. OMG. OOOOMMMGGG.

craving food i've never even had.

So here is the thing. I've never in my life have eaten the famous food "eggs benedict". In fact, I didn't even know what it was exactly til like... a year ago. Bottom line is I have never tried eggs benedict or even been in the presence of someone who was consuming one.

For some reason I have been craving eggs benedict like cray for like, the last two weeks. Besides spending the last two weeks craving eggs benedict, I have also spent these last two weeks googling images of eggs benedict. Haha oh yes. I honestly googled is two times today just at work. IT LOOKS SO GOOD.

But what confuses me is, how can I crave something so badly that I have never eaten? Well I guess what I'm really craving is what I imagine it to taste like. And what I'm imagining... mmm. It could save lives I tell you. I was the same way with sushi before I tried it. I craved sushi on the daily before I actually tried it....and I still crave it on the daily.

My goal is to try eggs benedict sometime soon. Hopefully within the week. I can't wait.

things that must go - #4

Things (people) that must go:

Jason Statham.
This guy is the worst.
He is a scar on the face of the movie making business.
All his movies are the same.
Has he ever been in a movie that didn't involve:
Fast cars that race in a race that determines whether someone lives or dies? Or where he doesn't have a piece of machinery in his body serving as an organ? Where he wasn't the witty hero that is rescuing some child from a foreign land from snipers?
Ugh.
Anwyay, he sucks.
And I wouldn't be sad if I found out he was mauled by bears.
No talent would be destroyed.

ramen for dinner.

My Thursday was a day filled with nothing. Nothing that would even make the headline news if there was a town or city named "Boring" where their motto would be "where nothing happens and it's boring."

It started like any other day.... me waking up from sleep and getting ready to live for another day. The next 8 hours were spent at work. Since I got a new computer at work, work was fun. It is crazy how much fun one individual can have looking at all the new, fancy features on a computer. I was in some sort of computer machine heaven. My day was filled with lots of  "oooos!" and "aaaahhhhs!" and "THIS COMPUTER RULES!"

This is my biggest struggle I've had on the computer today (and any day really) is this:

Hi my name is Kal9====--====

That is kind of a bad example... but what I just poorly demonstrated was when I go to backspace and I end up pressing the = or any other key. I suck at backspacing.

pizza parties!

In sad news: I have not attended or have been invited to a pizza party since probably the 4th grade. But I was thinking today of how awesome and exciting pizza parties were/are. When you would be sitting in class and then the teacher would walk in with 3-4 boxes of pizza... that is the universal sign that the pizza party has officially begun and we would all go into a pizza crazed frenzy.

I think I am going to start throwing more pizza parties. It's not going to be just a thing for elementary students who behaved well for a whole week.

ZzZzZz.

Hey, did you know why "zzz" symbolizes sleeping? I don't know the exact reason... all I know is that it has something to do with the Greek language and meaning sleep or snoring or something. Sorry I got your hopes up with telling you a useful fact and then completely letting you down.

Anyway. Sleep. Sleep is something I can't do right anymore. It takes me hours and hours and hours and then some minutes and more minutes to fall asleep. Then, I finally fall asleep and then wake up a rough twelve minutes later thinking a whole night as passed. SUCCESS! I look at the clock and realize it was only twelve minutes.UNSUCCESS. (shhh, unsuccess isn't a real word) Classic case of the "UGH!"

Thanks to Golden Girls, I watch an unhealthy amount of the Hallmark Chanel. There is this movie they keep advertising called "Undercover Bridesmaid" I can't express into words how excited I am for that movie to finally air... only so I don't have to see the commercial anymore! Now that I think about, I want that commercial to stop more than I want a full night of sleep. Truth.

HUGS.

pooped.

Right now I am going to talk about how incredibly tired I am these days....

These days, I am pretty incredibly tired.

There. I am done talking about how tired I am.

Anyway. It has been raining all week and it's so nice. Even if it's not raining, I like the overcast.

Taxes were due yesterday. Want to know how I know that? Because yesterday I was thinking about how I still need to do my taxes before it's too late and then a simple Google search revealed they were due on April 17th. So I did them. Classic Kaleena - waiting til the last minute to do anything.

The other night when I was laying in bed, I was thinking about quotes. I really love quotes. I read them all the time on the internet or write them down when I'm reading a book. So I was thinking I want to come up with a quote(s) that has the potential to be quoted or sited 30 years from now and would give people goosebumps. And let me tell you, I was coming up with some good ones... I was minutes away from sleep but it seemed like the closer I was to sleep, the better they were sounding. I had the thought "crap, I should write these down... nah, I will surely remember them." ...Can I please tell you that every time in my life when I say "I don't need to write this down, I will remember." I never remember and wish I wrote it down? So now I have no idea what those life-changing quotes were that I made up and probably never will know. All I know is one had to do with a puzzle and me being a puzzle piece. It was deep.

I got a new computer at work today and that means I went from Windows XP to Windows 7 and I feel pretty fancy and like I'm really in 2012.

This post went here, there and everywhere.

i can't wait until i feel ways about things.

So, Hunger Games (book). At first I was like, "no." But now I am like, "yes. Sure, why not."

I started reading Hunger Games because overly obsessed sister kept asking me to. So I finally started and right now I am on Part III. I had a difficult time getting into this book. When I would put it down for a break, I honestly didn't care what was going to happen next. And I usually take that as a bad sign when reading a book. But good news is, I am finally interested and this book isn't so bad after all. Do you know how many people in my life told me that our friendship (and sistership, I guess) was on the line if I didn't like the Hunger Games series? Well it was a lot.

We went to Buffalo Wild Wings last night. Probably #1 favorite restaurant. If for some reason I am getting the death sentence and am faced a choice of picking my last meal, I already know what I am choosing. I've had this list for a while now... I need to prepared.

1. Buffalo Wild Wings - their buffalo wings, of course.
2. Cereal. Just what kind of cereal is the real question. I guess we'll have to wait to see what I'm craving before I die... it will probably be LIFE cereal. Ha! Get it? Sorry....
3. Cheese fries. Obviously.
4. More cheese fries. Obviously.
5. Sushi! The tiger roll from Red Ginger to be exact.
6.Cheddar potato soup.
7. Mountain Dew.
8. BBQ ribs.

And that is all for now. That list made me hungry.

things that must go - #3

Things that must go #3:

Getting my car inspected and re-registered by state law and it costing 200 big ones. Ugh.

Saturday, April 7, 2012

i really like...

1. Rainbows and anything rainbow.
2. Showers. I could spend all day in the shower. They are my favesies.
3. Red shoes.
4. Tulips that are fully bloomed in the daytime and close to sleep at night time.
5. The moon.
6. Painting my nails.
7. Chuck Palahniuk.

I don't like...

When I'm texting or on looking on my phone when i'm laying down and I drop it on my face.

The mystery cut I have on my left pointer finger.

Fellow apartment neighbors who SLAM their door every time they leave or come home.

this post goes here and there and everywhere!

Hey my party people!!! Jk. If you are reading this at this hour on Friday, I would say that you aren't a "party people" but hey, some might think blog reading is partying.

Today is Friday. Rebecca Black said it best when she said  "yesterday was Thursday, today is Friday." Truer words have never been spoken by a Youtube "star." I'm 100% sure I have used that line on this blog before but I guess what is bound to happen when you have a blog for 2 years.

As I sit in my apartment with South Park on the TV and ponder the day that is Friday... I have come to the conclusion that I kind of don't like Fridays. According to the Facebook and Twitter I feel like I am the only person who feels this way and who has never exclaimed "TGIF" But whatever.

Hint #1 to find out there is zero going on in my life: I am talking about my feelings on Friday on a Friday night. But I am a hermit at heart and have no problem with going into hermitation (another form of hybernation that I am pretty sure I just invented)  for long periods of time.

I saw 21 Jump Street the other night. It pretty much rocked my world. There was a healthy amount of loud laughter coming not just from me but the entire theater. If there was food or popcorn in my mouth, it would have been spit out, fo sho.

Here is my new hair. It looks kind of purple-ish.

kaleena's bookshelf: fight club.

Did I just finish reading Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk? Yes.

Is it now probably on my top 4 favorite books/things ever? Certainly.

Do I just want to call everyone I know and talk and talk and talk about this book? Oh yeah.

Do I love this book so much it hurts? Hell. Yes.

Did I just feel overcome with sadness when this book ended before I wanted it to? Yes :(

Did this book have many, many quotes I adored and wrote down? Of course, here they are:

“Only after disaster can we be resurrected. It's only after you've lost everything that you're free to do anything. Nothing is static, everything is evolving, everything is falling apart.”

“For this moment, nothing matters. Look up into the stars and you're gone.”

"This is your life, and it's ending one minute at a time."

"If you don't know what you want," the doorman said, "you end up with a lot you don't."

"May I never be complete.  May I never be content.  May I never be perfect."

"It's only after you've lost everything," Tyler says, "that you're free to do anything."

"We don't have a great war in our generation, or a great depression, but we do, we have a great war of the spirit.  We have a great revolution against the culture.  The great depression is our lives.  We have a spiritual depression."

when you have nothing left to burn, you have to set yourself on fire.

Hi hi hi!
Today was just a good day. Ignoring the fact that I had a bad hair day.
The weather today was the best it has been all year.
Several dogs were out & about being cute and adorable and doing the things dogs do.
(I swear I saw one dog look both ways before it crossed the road).
I was driving with the windows down.
I ate an orange dreamsicle.
I had the AC on... (before I rolled the windows down).

As I was walking out in this weather I realized how much I am not looking forward to summertime. I really wish it would stay this time of year all year long.

having a library card is fun.

A long, long time ago in a world that I still currently live in... my wallet was stolen. And it was an event that I will never forget. Not only because I lost my drivers license, my social security number, my debit card, my library card, every movie ticket stub I've acquired since 2005... but because I was more upset that I lost every movie ticket stub I've acquired since 2005 more than all the things that make up my identity.

I eventually got over it.

Jk, no I didn't. I still am sad that I lost them. RIP wallet.

So since all that jazz was stolen from my life, I had to replace everything. I just barely got around to getting my new library card and the guy who issued it, said I had an outstanding balance on it from a book I checked out in 2009.

My first thought was....

Oh dear. It's probably going to be close to $1,000 by now.

But it wasn't. Guess how much? GUESS.

$6.40

So I paid it and me and my library card are living happily ever after.

Oh, and I found out today that you can make an account online with the Salt Lake City library system and see what books you have out, what books you have on hold, wishlists and they will even recommend books to you.

Awesome! Libraries are fun. And having a library card is even more fun. Yay.

for this moment, nothing matters. look up into the stars and you're gone.

Tree blossom overload!

ugh.

I woke up first thing to a text from my sister, Lacey saying:

"Are you ready to be an aunt again?? :)"

I went crazy with excitement and then had the thought...

Wow, both my sisters are pregnant.... and I'm just a single girl living in the city who is trying to make her way through life.... we are just one camera crew short of being a Lifetime movie.

But since I am 100% gullible,  I didn't think of the date. It's April 1st. April Fool's Day. She's not pregnant.

IN OTHER NEWS: You know you watch too much Golden Girls when you have a dream you are sledding with them and living with them in a hotel... like I did last night.
