That day.
That day when my entire world and everything I've ever known came crashing down all around me and I was left standing. Alone.
Alone.
Being that hurt and feeling that much pain was draining. This isn't just Kaleena typing. But it is a very devastated, empty and very much heartbroken Kaleena.
Me and Steve are no longer "me and Steve"
No more: we, us, ours, together, Steve & Kaleena.
It's now: me, mine, I. Alone.
In one, short minute, my entire life was changed. It just took one minute to destroy everything I thought I knew. That single minute, that stupid short minute, somehow was the longest sixty seconds of my life. Everything was in slow motion. I was suddenly aware of my breathing and the strong tugging of what little was left on the inside.
Reader, I would love to tell you the whole tragic ending to what I thought was going to be my happily ever after with the man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. I still want to. But I'm afraid I've already used all the tissues in the entire world and I don't want to make you cry. But I will tell you a little....
First off, I want to tell you that we have never had an actual fight (that wasn't over who left a mess or who locked the keys inside the apartment) and our relationship didn't have any issues. This is why I was ( i still am) so shocked.
Steve no longer felt like we had a future together. He thinks we need to spend some time apart. He thinks that I can do better. He thinks that maybe one day we might find ourselves together again.
That break up was certainly unexpected and left me feeling empty and heartbroken. And it surely was NOT mutual. I will admit that and say I was the one DUMPED. I won't try and make excuses to myself say it was "mutual" to hide the fact that I was no longer what Steve needed and/or wanted. I was dumped.
I don't know if it's normal for a person who has just gotten dumped to feel this way... but right now, I feel like I am nobody, nothing. Without Steve I feel like I am nothing. He was my home. For three and a half years, he was my home. My best friend.
Over the last while, my head has been playing on repeat silent memories of all the countless happy and special times I was lucky enough to spend with Steve. I keep looking for some sort of sign I might've missed that could have warned me of this tragedy.
