Remember that one time I wished for a genie? Well I thought of another wish I would wish from genie. I wish I could be in the shower all day. You can think this is weird, because it is weird. But I cherish showers the way some cherish their cats.
Tonight, somebody (a very scary somebody) didn't want me to enjoy my nightly shower. Noooo, they didn't just want to ruin my shower, they wanted to torture me, reduce me to tears. There I was--walking down the hall with dreams of the hot water, loofas, brown sugar & fig soaps, etc, and there it was. A colossal, black, long-legged SPIDER, just making it's ugly self comfortable in OUR shower. I wanted to explode with fright. How do you stop an exploding (wo)man? The jerk probably had it planned all along. He knew.
Did it stop there? No, *sniff* it didn't stop there. After getting Steve to vacuum that effer out of my kingdom... err.. my shower, every. single. thing that would graze me, I imagined the most horrendous spider known to my imagination. Every droplet of water tormented me, it changed me! My usual 20-25 minute shower was diminished to a pathetic ten minutes.
Tonight will forever be remembered as: The incident.

when zombies could be at your local grocery store.
It happened again today.
"Hey, how's it goin'? Do you have a pen I can borrow real quick?"
Me: "It's 2:06pm"
"Huh? I need it to sign this in real quick..."
Me: "What?"
"I need to borrow a pen, so I can sign this in."
Me: "Ooooooooooh, I thought you asked the time."
"...........thank you."
This was humiliating... not really, I just don't even have an explanation.
The Smiths down the road is renovating. I give a thumbs down to the renovation, the store is going from adorable and old fashion to... not adorable and modern. After 10PM, the store appears deserted, the shelves are out of line, food scattered everywhere (including the floor), floor is torn up, etc. As I was wandering up and down what was left of the aisles, I felt like I was in a zombie movie. Turns out there are only renovating because I never found the camera crew, make-up artists or the zombies.

bits of my weekend.
Six things I learned this weekend:
1.The more episodes of Cops you watch, the longer the theme song will be stuck in your head. Bad boys, bad boys...
2.Cheese makes any food that is delicious, more delicious.
3.The harder I want to sleep in, the earlier I will wake up... unhappy.
4.When my car is clean, it seems like a brand new car! Wee. And I feel like everyone is jealous of it as I drive my wheezing car by them.
5.I'm always hungry.
6.The two most used words in my vocabulary (not including, "Oh my gosh, watch this Youtube video") is "I'm hungry."
7.I'm hungry right now. I didn't learn that this weekend, but I am hungry.
8. Number eight because I would lose sleep If I allowed to make an odd number list.

this dog has already accomplished more than i will in my entire life.
Reason # 1,002,342 why I love dogs.
bad boys, bad boys.
I'm sick today.
I had an alarming dream last night. In this dream, one of those ugly, flying ants was in our bedroom and it was crawling on me, it scared me so bad that it woke me up; only for me to discover that I would be spending this Sunday sick, on the couch. Typically, I would be on the couch anyway, but this time I have an excuse. Wanna know what I absolutely disdain? You can witness the most awful, scary, terrible, worst dream of your life or in the history of ever and when you are sharing it with someone else, they will never know what it was like. And they will judge you. And stare at you. And call you a baby and ask if you need a nightlight.
"A 'scary' dream about a flying ant woke you up?....."
"You just had to be there, alright!!! Can you pass me more tissues?"
The headache that is haunting me right now, makes me want to slice that part of my brain out and drop-kick it into the road where it will be ran over by the next four passing cars.
Today's forecast: being beached on the couch while watching the Cops marathon. Three episodes down already, about twenty left to go.

when sitting alone in public goes wrong.
Steve has an internship with the football team at the highschool we both graduated from. That's where we've been spending the last couple of Friday nights. It gives me awkward feelings to be at my highschool so often. The stands consist of: Parents, grandparents, babies, students and then me. I feel like the only 21 year old.
Everything seems foreign. And the students... oh dear, the students. It's entertaining, yet painful, to observe the students in the most awkward time of their lives. Behind all the glitter make-up, braces, face paint, grease, acne, etc, they are all the same person claiming to be unique.... making them even more the same.
Tonight, I was sitting alone in the full of gossip, teenage infested stands while Steve was on the field with the team. I don't have any issues with being alone in public. I have issues being surrounded by teenagers.
Then it happened. Out of the corner of my eye, I see a 15-16 ish boy approaching me.
Teen boy: "Hi. I saw you were sitting alone."
Me: "Yep, it's true...."
Teen boy: "Are you a Mom?" WHAT!! Thank you, thank you for sending me into a quarter life crisis, dude.
Me: "No, I used to go here. I graduated in 2007"
Teen boy: "So, I think you are really pretty. I'm not supposed to tell you, but my friends back there will all give me five bucks if you give me your number."
Me: "......."
Teen boy: "Come on." [insert innocent smile here]
Me: "Really? No.... You are under-age."
Then I looked at him and then looked at the crowd of his friends making a shadow behind him in the distance. They all had the look of, yeah right, no way. Something else I observed about the crowd was they set him up to be humiliated, he definitely was the runt of the group, but he desperately wanted to belong. So, I took the pen and wrote down my number, but one digit off. After praising me and saying thank you a bajillion times, he scampered back to his group where I heard them all cheer and high-five him.
I feel so old.... and used.

okay, so maybe i exaggerated.
I should probably mention I tend to exaggerate... I was maybe a tad dramatic and.... emotional in my list about the DMV. Blah-blah-blah; I'm still alive and thanks to the DMV, my birth certificate, SS card, two proofs of current residence and $25.00, there is a piece of [already wrinkled] paper in my purse with an uncomplimentary photo of me that will suffice as my license til I acquire my new one in the mail. That new one will have said harsh photo of me, (in color) to stare back at me, mock me, every time I open my wallet for the next five years. In five years, you can count on another post about me claiming something that child birth is less painful than a trip to the DMV. Will I ever change my ways?
Has anyone in the history of ever been pleased with their license photo?
At work today, I was strolling down a narrow hallway to the bathroom. Coming the opposing way, was a Loan Officer (male) wearing a plaid shirt that looked like he stole it from a picnic table.
Loan Officer: "Hey, how's it goin'?"
I heard: "Hey, where' you goin'?"
Me: "........I'm going to the bathroom."
Loan Officer: ......................
Five minutes later, my palm met my forehead. Fifteen times in a row. DUUUUUUH! I wanted to chase him and explain myself, but I told myself, put the shovel down before you dig yourself even deeper.
Now, I'll be off wearing this sunglasses that I don't really like... obviously. Whatever you are hoping for this weekend, I hope you get it. I'm not going to tell you have to live your weekend!

I hope this week will never be neglected in my enormous pool of memories. The best way I can put this blissful week into a metaphor would be like this:
I am as happy as that sugar craved child would be to experience that. Note to self: work on my metaphors.
Now, a day-by-day highlight on why this week will be forever referenced as 'that one reallyfreakygoodawesomesweetincredibleweek'
MONDAY - Had my first good-hair-day of the year... in September. And it was payday. $$$
TUESDAY - Steve surprised me by coming to my work to take me out to Red Robin where I made him laugh and he made me laugh even harder. There were also bacon cheeseburgers involved.
WEDNESDAY - First day of Autumn, our anniversary, watched Monsters INC with Steve before bed.
THURSDAY - Steve got new tires for my explorer (we decided to get my car fixed and keep it) and took it to get the alignment fixed, cleaned it, detailed it, etc. Anything great that can be done to a car, he did it. Oh and he even filled the gas tank. It's the first time in MONTHS that my tank wasn't hovering over the E. Thank you, Steve. You are the greatest.
FRIDAY - DMV day. Boo. Why? WHHHYYYY!!? Nice effort, but my week was still the bestest.
A sugar craved child jumping into a pool of pudding and drying off with cotton candy. Then showering off in a shower of Kool-Aid.

which is worse: odd numbers or the DMV?
things i would rather do instead of going to the DMV.
-not go to the dmv.
-wash my hair with shampoo only, no conditioner.
-listen to somebody file their nails.
-watch the george lopez show.
-walk a mile barefoot on the street in mid July in Arizona.
-get papercuts between all of my fingers.
-get a TB shot in between my toes.
-have someone pull off all my toenails with rusty plyers.
-squirt lemon juice into an open wound.
-put nailpolish remover directly into a hang-nail.
-watch tv with the volume on 23.... no, I take that one back.
-play solitaire with a deck of only 48 cards.
-eat beans.
-pluck my arm hair out one by one.
-work overtime.
-watch somebody eat cheesefries on a complete empty stomach.
I'm hoping that by the time I wake up tomorrow, my license will have renewed itself. Pleeeeeeeeeeeease!!

i'll stop the world and FALL with you.
me: "What's today's date?"
"September 22nd."
me: "September 22nd......"
"First day of fall."
me: "It's Fall!!!!?"
"Yeah."
I'm going to be honest in three seconds. Three, two, one... My favorite thing about fall is Daylight Savings. When we get an extra hour of everything a day has to offer.
Like:
-An extra hour to sleep.
-An extra hour to eat.
-An extra hour to sit.
-Another hour to eat.
-Another hour to work, unfortunately.
-Another hour to procrastinate.
Sorry- Winter, Spring, and Summer, but your cousin Autumn is the best out of you four. I know when you all asked me who was your favorite, I said couldn't choose or have a favorite. I lied. It was Autumn all along. Mainly because of her weather, tree colors, and she doesn't make me look ridiculous when I wear one of my 3464213384351 scarves, unlike you, Summer.

happy two and a half year anniversary, steve.
I logged into my e-mail today to find I had 427 unread e-mails. About nine hours later, at long last I was done sifting through the spam which happened to be 400 of the e-mails.Oddly, most of the subject lines read: YOU HAVE BEEN SELECTED! Lucky me. Selected for what? Selected to be the lucky individual to be annoyed by the 400+ spam e-mails?
-No, I'm not interested in helping your father's business overseas.
-No, I'm not wanting to work from home.... through your offer at least.
-No, I'm don't want to try a new-improved diet pill FOR FREE!
Among those 400+ e-mails, I've had a few from my readers asking about my boyfriend, Steve and how come I never talk too much about him. I do that on purpose because when I started Just Add Kaleena, I didn't want to make it all about our relationship. So I will tell you a little about the guy over there on the couch, Steve.
-Steve and I have known each other since fourth grade.
-We were assigned to be square dancing partners for the Grandparent's Day assembly! Back then, it didn't mean much... the only thing I remember really was thinking my partner was the cutest boy in the class and he had sweaty hands.
-We went through Jr. High and High School as strangers for no good reason.
-We didn't go on our first date til 2008, a year after we graduated.
-Our official anniversary is March 22, 2008.
-Our first date ended with talking about our favorite things about the Harry Potter series. (YES!!)
-We wrote our names on the stairwell down to the Pie Pizzeria two years ago and it's still there!
-Steve can tell you anything you want to know about any college football team/stadium.
-He prefers salty foods over sweets.
-He peppers all of his food.
-His favorite movie is Remember the Titans.
-We are each others first serious relationship.
-Since we've been dating, I think I've seen him eat candy twice. I think he's seen me NOT eating candy twice.
-He's the smartest.
-He is very handsome.Oh, and awesome.
-I asked him out on our first date.
-He can make me laugh and laugh, even when I'm not with him.
-We've been living together since May 2009.
-The first present he gave me was a stuffed animal Bernese Mountain Dog, after I told him how I loved them.

a light bulb just appeared over my head.
Since the first time I experience a crowded closet, a bulging dresser drawer, and floor-less bedroom due to clothes piles, I've been incapable of breaking the attachment I create my friends... I mean clothes.
A few weekends ago, I actually was able to gather up ONE WHOLE garbage bag of clothes. I said a goodbye to each item going into the big scary bag and reassured them their next owner will love them more than I did (ha! yeah, right).
My plan was to take them Plato's Closet, but I'm not really in the mood for the employee to look back and forth between me and the item like wtf? and get twelve bucks back for the entire bag when in reality it would be close to $150.00.
Then. That light bulb appeared. Even that *tink* noise sounded. If you guys want, I can post pictures of the clothing I'm parting with and you can make offers if you are interested.... I'm still deciding if I will give them for free.... WHO KNOWS!!
Do you think this is a good idea? Would anyone be interested? Is this creepy and unusual?
Note: My sisters get first pick.

the best things in life aren't things.
I'm currently dehydrated. I'm actually desperately thirsty as I type this. But the thought of walking to get water will make me more thirsty, so I choose to suffer here.
The more I drink water, the more thirsty I feel. Today when I returned to my natural habit (our apartment), I was chugging gulps of water out of a gallon of water we keep in the fridge.I sincerely felt the only way to get rid of the thirst was to dump the water all over me. I'm aware that would leave me wet and.... still thirsty, but your mind turns on you when you're lacking water!! In fact there is a bunny hopping across the screen that looks like an arrow....
Today was my friend. However, preferably it would've been spent with me sprawled in bed, laying on my Harry Potter pillow case reading Harry Potter. I just started re-reading the series.

bits of my weekend.
Four Things I Learned This Weekend.
1.Eating more than two Baby Bottle Pops will make your tongue feel like somebody scrubbed it with a piece of sandpaper.
2.Our backyard neighbors will always prevent us from sleeping in. For example: by digging gravel and trying to start a broken car... forcing it to sputter for minutes at a time.
3. Thank you pigs in a blanket and chili, for not making me think I have zero skills in the kitchen.
4.I can never watch too much King of the Hill.

sometimes.
Sometimes I think Sunday is my favorite day of the week. Then I remember that Monday always comes after it as well as the rest of the week and then the idea of Sunday makes me frown.
Sometimes I go Smiths three times in a day because I fail to make lists and I forget more than half the things I need. Or sometimes I'm just craving a Cherry Coke.
Sometimes I tell people my name is Nikki because I don't feel like spelling Kaleena and pronouncing it at least three times.
Sometimes I think I was born in the wrong decade.
Sometimes I talk to myself more than other people.
Sometimes I cry when I see a dog roaming the streets without a collar on.
Sometimes I watch more episodes of Cops than I should.
Sometimes when I'm on Webmd.com I think I am suffering from every symptom I'm reading.
Sometimes I wake up in the morning craving KFC chicken.

i'd rather be reading harry potter.
"It is our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities." - Albus Dumbledore
"Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light." - Albus Dumbledore
"If you want to know what a man's like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals." - Sirius Black
"Numbing the pain for a while will make it worse when you finally feel it." - Albus Dumbledore
"It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends." - Albus Dumbledore
I saw the official preview of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Pt. 1 and I proudly had goosebumps the entire preview. If I didn't want everyone in the theater to throw their popcorn and Cokes at me, I would've stood up and clapped... so I settled for the silent scream instead.
Even Darth Vader is a Harry Potter fan.

I did some pumpkin smashing tonight. Translation: I went to the Smashing Pumpkins concert. I am a coward when it comes to standing for long amounts of time. So, to avoid this, I spotted a tall cage in the corner, wiggled through the bars (as non-seductively as possible, didn't want people to think two shows were going on at once) and found my nest for the next two and half hours. I was able to sit and lounge as I please with a supreme view of the stage. I could still see all the lights reflect off of Billy Corgan's bald head.
By the time the show was over, our stomachs were growling some fierce. I think some may have heard mine growl over the music. We went over to Dee's for a hearty plate of cheese fries and I felt as if I walked into a commercial. The booth next to us, there were three 20-something year old girls sharing a pile of ice cream, whip cream and chocolate. Then I heard one of them say,
"I know where I'm going on Monday."
This was followed by girly laughter and talk of how naughty they are for eating that pile of ice-cream... very much like "uh-huh sister! We've all had those days! Been there done that. You go girl."
Then I searched the restaurant for the camera crew. It HAD to be a commercial!! I was living inside a commercial. I never found the cameras, but I'm still not convinced.

"I'm so sick of the hassle of having to take the pill everyday"
"With this BC, you don't have to, trust me! *giggles* you will love it, it's goes well with your lifestyle. So, talk to your doctor"

i have a problem.
I made multiple promises to myself, wrote plenty of notes/reminders to myself, that no matter how bored I am of my hair.... I will never, NEVER, NNNNEEEVVVVEEERRRR go back to dark hair. Then I found this picture and I thought, hey, everyone breaks a promise now and then, right? NO! Bad Kaleena! Save yourself from the instant regret.
This was also before I had my bangs. I'm thankful for bangs. Once I saw that over-powering forehead of mine in this mockery photo of a Cabbage Patch Kid, I was instantly reminded why I cut my own bangs.
Below, you will see the Sunday version of Kaleena. I look like this from the time I wallow out of bed in the morning til I crawl back in at night. *I played with the photo effects on the first one. DUH.

photo of the day #19
Proof that when you wear a robe outside of your home or when you aren't ill, you look like you escaped the looney bin.
i felt like snow white today.
My work is located right beneath the mountains... making mountain critters nest in our parking lot. Once again, I lost the battle to the alarm clock and arrived at work late so I had to park on the upper level of the lot. The stairs to get down from the upper lot is literally in the middle of this little mountain hill thingy. As I was descending from the upper lot, there were numerous butterflies flittering around, birds chirping boisterously, and mice and squirrels chasing each other. When I realized the situation I was living, I felt like I should start singing and find seven short men to follow me.
If I went home, opened my cupboard and a genie was sitting in there and offered me three wishes, they would be:
1. A dog that could change from a Bernese Mountain dog to a St. Bernard.
2. Every time I opened my fridge there would be a complete stalk of Cherry Coke.
3. Long, flowing hair that didn't have any split ends. Well I would still want some split ends because after all, picking split ends is my favorite traffic past time.
I would try to ask for a million more wishes, but I think that wish is a genie wish-foul.

photo of the day #18
The dog wanted a Snuggie so bad, he tried to make his own. You can almost smell this dog's humiliation just by looking at this photo.
don't. feed. the. kaleena.
At approximately 1:46pm today it occurred to me how lazy I can be. Wait, not 'how lazy can be.' How lazy I AM. I was craving my daily-afternoon Mountain Dew and I died a little when I thought of the two minute walk across my office to get to the pop machine, and I thought, I wish they would put a pop machine down the hall, so I would only have to walk only ONE minute to get it. Then I stopped myself. I made myself walk around the whole building as a punishment for wishing such a lazy wish, ESPECIALLY about pop!!
It also occurred to me. I have a serious disease that prevents me from keeping my attention span, and it's not ADHD. It's called people watching. I'm not proud to say how many times I've stopped my workout at the gym cause of all the different breeds of human that the gym attracts.
First, we have the girly girl. This girl, about 25-27, sets up her gear. Her gear is: magazines, make up, water bottle, cell phone charger etc. She sets up her camp in front of the wall mirrors by the ab crunchers, makes numerous calls on her cell phone, while checking herself out in the many poses she does in front of the mirror... not even attempting the ab cruncher. 45 minutes pass and she packs up and walks out the door without one drop of sweat.
Now, we have soccer players. I shouldn't be so kind by branding them that. That's what they want us to think. They aren't real soccer players. If they were real soccer players they wouldn't show up to the gym, dressed fully in street clothes, spread out and kick/throw the ball around (yes, in the weight/machine area). After 20 minutes of wearing themselves out of cheering and yelling, they jump in the pool. Thankfully, it's in another area where we can no longer hear them hoot and holler... or have to keep out of the line of their ball.
Then, we have my favorite. They are almost the reason why I force myself to the gym. The people who don't know what they're doing on the machines. Picture this man, age 40+, gray curly hair, extremely tiny eyes. He approaches the machine as if only one of them will survive what is about to happen. The machine is the equivalent of a pull up, but it has a little step that you stand on to spot you and when you pull yourself up, it rides up with you, it kind of looks like an elevator. Well this man, just rides the thing up and down for about 15 minutes and doesn't even do a proper pull up.Then he walks away and it looks like he's thinking, yeah, take that, I'm probably the only person who can do that.
I promise I observed this while gasping for air, sweaty and pretending I am athletic on the stairmaster and not through the back window of the gym.

hello darkness, my old friend.
I suspect that I'm sinking again. The only thing that seems real is gravity. My mind is turning against me and is voluntarily sorting the mess floating in my head. My head is terribly full leaving me feel very heavy. I wish my day had console so I could hit the reset button.
Things that made my tolerable:
+Simon & Garfunkel.
+The suspicious looking squirrel sitting by my car in the parking lot.
+The bottle of Coke waiting for me in the fridge.

goodbye my lover, goodbye my friend.
Next. Next. Next. Ugh. What is this? Next. Ew. Next. I kinda like thi.... no, next. --- That was me at work today when I was listening to my iPod on shuffle. I will tell you this: the shuffle I had going was garbage. Pure garbage. It was basically stuff that I know I should delete, I want to delete, I deny having when I am asked about it, but I keep it on there cause I think, I know if I delete it, I'll want to listen to it and it's not THAT bad. Damn that green grass on the other side.
And now to share some news. Are you REDDY? (that is a hint of the news) I'm getting a 2000 red VW Beetle. Used of course. My white 93' Ford Explorer... or Exploder as everyone is used to calling it... reached the point where it would be wiser to get a new car rather than fixing the repair. When I found this out, it was very much like a doctor coming into the waiting room and saying, "I'm sorry, I wish there was something we could do."
I'm hiding my pain and deep attachment with splitting with my car. It's not just my first car, it's my first car that has been mine for four years. I feel like I'm giving away my firstborn. I'm haunted by an image that when I leave it for the last time, the windshield wiper fluid will start pouring on it's own, and I will look and know, that that is my car crying. Or maybe it got tired of waiting for me to clean the windshield so it's going to do it on it's own.
All I know is that I will listen to Goodbye My Lover by James Blunt for one last time in there before we part.

rooster sauce makes everything better.
Even bad days. ESPECIALLY bad days.
I had a beast of a day today. It was worse than kicking a soccer ball with a toothpick under your toenail. Worse than eating a spoonful of sour cream when someone told you it was Coolwhip. Worse than someone with sweaty hands touching you or your hair.
I was at Smiths over filling my hand basket with candy when I was supposed to be getting things for dinner when I accidentally went down the wrong aisle. But this wasn't just any wrong aisle. This wrong aisle had what I've been searching for. Craving. Tasting in my sleep. It had.... ROOSTER SAUCE!(sriracha sauce).
Rooster sauce is a delicious spicy sauce that you can put on anything. Seriously. Anything. Except cookies. My favorite is to put it on rice (ham fried, shrimp fried, white) and eggs. Remind me wipe the keyboard of drool when I'm done typing this. I wish I knew why it was called Rooster Sauce... besides that there is a giant rooster on the bottle.
Viva el Sriracha Sauce!

photo of the day #14
I present to you Mr. Jabba the Yoda. Have you ever wondered what it would look like if Yoda and Jabba the Hutt had a child? I haven't either, but I figured if they did, this is what it would look like.
when I say ''the other day'', it can mean any time up to a year ago.
I logged on today to find I lost one follower. Bye little follower, it was nice having you the time I did.
This week I am determined to become a better cook. I'm not aiming to be a cooking guru, I just want to feel like I have some skills when I'm in the kitchen and not a worthless pile that has every cook-time memorized for the frozen food section.... I'm actually kind of proud of that. But I can't fool myself any longer by pretending pressing microwave buttons is a cooking skill.
It started off successful. I made potato soup. While it was cooking, I thought,
while I'm waiting here, I should make a dessert.
I open the pantry and behind all the Cheezits, EZ Mac, Dortitos, etc, I see a box of instant brownies. Add 2 eggs, 1/4 cup water, 2/3 veggie oil, bake for 24 minutes.
Okay, this looks impossible to mess up.
Some mixing, stirring and 35 minutes later (oops I forgot), I open the oven and see a pretty pan filled with solid brownie. Whew. I slightly tip the pan when I set it on the stove top and liquid brownie pours. Wtf?
Just so you know, instant brownie isn't as easy as it sounds. And they might leave you scratching your head for thirteen minutes.
Will I ever be able to walk out of my kitchen without my self esteem bruised?

the best things in life come in pocket form.
Whenever I wander onto a food blog, with fancy pictures and detailed recipes, I can hear my food self-esteem softly cry. So, I thought I would do a How-To myself. BEHOLD! The step by step on how to get the Hot Pocket in your freezer into your belly.
#1: Locate the ingredients.
#2: Prepare Ingredients.
#3: Place in microwave.
#4: Wait. Cooking time- One minute and thirty seconds. A great way to wait for this time to go by is to snack on other things in the pantry.
#5: Bring out of microwave and eat. But not too soon, you don't want to cause second degree burns in your mouth.
