This lady has a foot for a hand. I know this picture is real because I found it on the Internet. And the Internet never lies.

bits of my weekend.

I learned ONE thing over this holiday weekend/road trip. And it was: If I knew how to scissor kick the wind to make it stop, I would.

While in Colorado, the wind was blowing 79 mph. Yes, 79mph. That is 79mph of unpleasantness. You would want to scissor kick the wind too if you were out and about in gusts of 79 mph. The ride to Colorado wasn't as hellish as anticipated. I achieved the mysterious comfortable spot that sometimes doesn't exist in the front seat to take a nap.

And alas, I am back to my little apartment. On the couch. Watching Scrubs. Craving a smoothie or a milkshake... And wanting a snuggle... And a million dollars... And a box full of puppies... And for work to be canceled til the end of forever!

The worst part of three-day-weekends are when they come to end. Sad face.

Can you spot the horse above? WOW!
I labeled the one above to make it easier to spot.

No, silly. RED BULL gives you wings, not balloons.
Balloons: 1
Guy (is he alive?): 0

I think there was two requirements to be invited to this party:
1. Be non photogenic whatsoever.
2. Have no dance skills whatsoever.

a good traveler has no fixed plans and is not intent on arriving.

Wanna know the first sign you are great at procrastinating? Well, besides procrastinating your procrastinating, it's instead of packing for the road trip you've known about for weeks, you get on your laptop. In my defense, it looked lonely and it was just sitting here.

This road trip I am excited to:
+take pictures.
+ride shotgun with a pile of goodies on my lap.
+get some thinking done.
+eat gas station food at rest stops.
+not be at work.
+enjoy this wonderful three-day-weekend. Oh, yeah.

This road trip I am not excited to:
+Toss and turn in the front seat of the car looking for that comfortable napping spot that I refused to believe exists in any car.

Man's best friend.
If your best friend doesn't sacrifice his day at the park to hold your cup on his head,
I'm afraid you have a terrible best friend.

when i get excited.

I get excited easily. In fact, I couldn't be any more literal when I say, "I get excited easy." So you know I am being 100% honest and 100% literal when I say, "I AM SO EXCITED FOR THE UPCOMING CONCERTS!!!!"

A lot of (sometimes dangerous) things tend to happen when I get excited. The most commons things are a surprised face accompanied with loud noises mixed with partial sentences that usually call for a translator... and sometimes things get thrown. I decided to show my excitement for these concerts in list form. You can find me at these following concerts happy but complaining that the sweaty round guy next to me is standing too close and that my feet hurt from standing so long:

+Arctic Monkeys
+Cake
+Death Cab for Cutie
+Noah & The Whale
+Moody Blues
+Bright Eyes
+Edward Sharp & The Magnetic Zeros

It seemed like there were a lot more when I was creating that list in my mind. There is a high chance I am forgetting a few.

'Tis a great Summer for concert going.

Come on, Guy... I know the economy is bad AND all, but you are in a GOLD BODY SUIT with a pogo stick nearby. You should look a lot happier than you do.

the day of the perfect storm.

Today I was annoyed. Annoyed that everything I find enormously annoying happened all on the same day. That day was today. It was the perfect storm.

Annoyed that I was having a bad hair day.

Annoyed that the wind was blowing in my face and making my bad hair day to a hideous-i-can't-beleive-i'm-showing-my-face-in-public-bad hair day.

Annoyed that every song I find oh-so-agonizing to listen to, came on the radio in a row.

Annoyed that my cell phone, my iPod AND my digital camera batteries all died.

Annoyed that U2 is playing a concert just a few wee blocks from my apartment. My apartment was hot so I opened the window and now I can hear the U2 concert.
Pros: I'm no longer hot.
Cons: I can now hear U2 even louder.

Annoyed that there was a miscommunication.

However....

I'm not annoyed that there is a new Tosh.0 on tonight.

I'm not annoyed that the person I hand made a birthday card for called me to tell me he LOVED it and thought it was hilarious. Just my intentions. Happy face.

I'm not annoyed that my FREE phone car charger came in the mail today.

I'm not annoyed that I got to take pictures of the pretty little orange poppy flowers in the back ally.

And lastly, I'm not annoyed that I'm no longer at work.

I can't tell if this goat is being thoughtful and protective or plotting a revenge.
However, it's probably thinking, "my kids are cuter than these kids."

bits of my weekend.

This weekend. Sigh.

Things I learned this weekend:
1. Reader, never buy sushi from the local grocery store. I repeat: NEVER. BUY. SUSHI. FROM. THE. LOCAL. GROCERY. STORE. I repeat: Nah, I wont repeat it again, but seriously... even if it  has a pretty little promising sign that reads: made fresh daily! Now Reader, I am aware you are probably rightfully thinking, did she honestly think that was an okay idea? Because yeah. I guess I tend to lose my judgement at 9pm when I walk into the local grocery store just for some goodies I don't really need and some Mt Dew that I also don't need. The store-bought-sushi fiasco ended with me shouting and over-dramatically spitting it out over the sink.

2. The... I'm struggling on which word I want to choose to describe this Beagle... fine, I'll go with adorable. The adorable Beagle that lives across the street will just bark and bark and bark and BARK some more on Saturday mornings until I finally wave my imaginary white flag and get up out of bed. Once I am up and stumbling down the hall, the Beagle stops barking and stops making any possible noise. I'm convinced that Beagle is against girls named Kaleena enjoying the one day they have to sleep in.

3. Mean children are mean! Instead of leaving that vague sentence so vague, I will elaborate for you. I went to Old Navy to take advantage of the bitchin' deal they had: *ALL FLIP FLOPS FOR $1* And yeah. When I got there a seven year old girl got to the entrance the same time I did and I stepped back so she could first but she just stared at me like I just skinned a live puppy. Then we crossed paths again in the store and this time she was staring at me like I just told her Santa wasn't real. Finally, we had one last encounter. In line. She was still staring. So I accepted her challenge and I stared back. It lasted for what felt like 8 minutes and then I saw her mother was looking at me like 'Really?' So the little girl took the win.

Thanks for reliving my weekend with me Reader, now I must tune in to Tosh.0 and start eating my lunchable!

happiness is.

Happiness is:
+Knowing that I am going to get two new books in the mail this week that I ordered from Amazon. I ordered It's Kind of A Funny Story and Water For Elephants. I'm a firm believer that getting something in the mail can brighten any day.

+Waking up on a Sunday morning thinking it's a Monday morning. That mini, glorious second when you realize that it's still the weekend...  PRICELESS!

+A large/huge/giant/heaping/ginormous/big/however you want to say it bag of Peanutbutter M&M's.

+Getting three pairs of flip flops for $1 each. A red pair. A black pair. A white pair. I learned that some people transform into manner-forgetting monsters when they are inside a store that is selling something for just one dollar. I'm pretty sure they should've had two ambulances on site... and maybe a few cops...
+Being outside so late at night that everything around you is completely silent and still. Until things get a little too silent and your imagination starts to freak you out. Then I run inside before the frightening thing I pictured in my imagination gets me.

+Pay day. That small minute when I feel like a freakin' millionaire before I am forced to spend it all on bills.

"I've had a crappy day."

her name would be pancake.

I don't know when or why it happened...
...but my angst for cats somehow turned into a veiled adoration.
I want this cat.
I would name her Pancake.
She would sleep at the foot of my bed.
And she would get tangled in my Christmas lights during the holidays.
Look how silly this cats looks! I'm already in love with her.

mind tricks.

It's been raining here since Tuesday.
Or Monday... I can't remember....
This is great because it happens to be my most favorite weather.
Cloudy skies? Bring it on.
100% chance of showers? Oh yes, please.
Road closed due to giant puddles? Wonderful!

However, it's not great when you are home alone and thunder accompanies the rain.
Thunder still scares me, but only when I'm home alone.
So, I painted my nails to distract me.
I chose Revlon: cherries in the snow.

This weekend I am planning to wake up and watch the sunrise again.
Oh yeah.
And next week I am starting a raw diet.
I'm really nervous and eager and I hope I follow through.
Wish me luck.

a week of rain.

I started my day this morning by laying in my bed before the alarm clock went off. Now that I think about it... technically, that's how all my days start... so I should say, I started it by laying in bed AWAKE before the alarm clock went off with my arms folded behind my head and staring up at my ceiling. For no good reason I slept opposite in my bed last night (my feet where my head usually is and my head where my feet usually are).

I laid there, staring at the ceiling, listening to the rain. Dreading the second when I would hear my alarm clock yelling and barking at me to start the day. I wanted [so very badly] to call in to work today and tell them I would not be in today. If they asked why I would say something like... I was nailed to the floor and it would be an all day thing to get me un-nailed from the floor. I don't know. That fantasy lasted for like 2 minutes.

I didn't want to do today. And I thought if I was able to lay in my bed all day that then maybe the day wouldn't really happen. I wanted it so badly to be one of those days.

Alas, my alarm clock barked at me, I forced myself out of my throne... er... bed, I went to work and now I am finally home. And the day wasn't even bad. I mean, how could it be when I had not one, but TWO bags of Peanut Butter M&M's from the vending machine?!

And here is this, just because I like it's truth:
