day trip and long car rides.

Alex, Alysha, Jamie, Brennin, and I all took a day trip to Wendover on Sunday. Mostly because we didn't have to work on Monday because of Labor Day and had nothing else to do. Alex and Brennin played Black Jack while Alysha, Jamie, and I wandered to get drinks and check everything out.

The drive there and back was the best part, it's about a two hour drive, so four hours total. We goofed off and argued about the Eagles. We also, had a fun time picking out what our name would be if we ever started a band.

We stopped at the Nevada liquor store on the way home because they have cheaper stuff there and LOOK WHAT I FOUND! And Alysha is such a good friend that she bought it for me cause she knew I had been looking everywhere for it.

Speaking of Alysha, she got stung by a bee last week and her leg was swelling up. Look at the difference.

She's healed since though, so no reason to panic.

always looking up.

I love the sky.

I feel like 95% of my day is looking up at the sky... either at the moon, the sun, the sunset or sunrise, the stars, the clouds, the birds, airplanes, and some days even RAINBOWS. Or if you are that really sensitive guy from Youtube DOUBLE/TRIPLE rainbows. I wonder if he ever found out what it means. The other 5% of my day is either filled with me being excited with what I saw or sad for what I didn't see in the sky.

I love it because you never see the same sunset or sunrise twice. And I love looking at the moon and wondering how many other people in the world are looking at it. I never look at the sun for that long or else I see those white spots when I look anywhere else.

Tuesday was a wonderful cloudy and stormy day and after eating fish tacos with Kylee (YUM) I went for a drive and saw this:

I love rainbows.
The mountains are pretty too.
I pulled my car over to take this picture...
And other people were out on the street adoring the rainbow.
I feel tickled when I see others enjoying the little things.

seattle was a blast.

Well, I am back from Seattle. And Reader, as you probably guessed, I now love Seattle and want to live there. Will I ever go to a city that I won't want to move to? While San Francisco is my #1 all time favorite city and always will be, I can picture myself living in Seattle more than San Fran.

Our hotel was right next to the Space Needle! Seeing a landmark like that is always exciting... but I was even more excited because Invisible Monsters is one of my favorite books and they go there in that book. So while I was at the Space Needle I kept picturing that part in the book. Exciting stuff.

We did the normal touristy stuff. And I especially loved how everything was walking distance. We didn't need a cab once. It was pretty chilly, but I didn't care.

We:
-Saw the Space Needle.
-Went to the top of the Space Needle. Whooooa talk about butterflies.
-Went to the EMP Museum. But I can't remember what EPA stands for... ( a cool music museum )
-Walked around the city.
-Walked through Pikes Market.
-Rode the Monorail.
-Ate the best grilled cheese sandwich of my life. The bread was French toast. OH YUM.
-Saw Utah football lose to Washington :(
-Saw the gum wall. Which is equally exciting as it is disgusting.
-Put some gum on the wall.

Here are (just a few because I'm stupid and left my real camera at home. duh) pictures of the trip.

Space Needle
Me with a kind of mustache
 Gum wall. Ew. But awesome.
Me putting gum on the Gum Wall
And YES. That is the guitar the JIMI FREAKING HENDRIX played at WOODSTOCK. I can't believe I was that close to it. It was insane. But really cool.

what i'm obsessed with.

My obessions come and go. How I work is I'm either 100% obsessed with something or I am 100% bored with it. Only sometimes will I be in between.

Right now I am obsessed with:

Cheesy potato soup.
Cooking new recipes.
Almond milk.
Naps.
Grapes.
Taking pictures.
This picture of a guy bench-pressing a goose:
The internet.
The Olympics.
Our new toothpaste.
Showers.

Right now I'm confused about:

Why is there a lady laying on her belly using her laptop in front of our building? Looks uncomfortable.

Why will my shins NEVER EVER EVER tan?

Why does the guy named Paul who lives on the other side of our building bug me so bad?

photos by me.

The other night it was straight up pink outside.
It was weird.
But I hurried and went out to take pictures of the pinkness and the sunset before it was too late.

I can't believe I am 23.
I still think I'm 20.
I wish I was still 20.
I liked 20.
Seriously, how am I 23?

one of those days.

Today was one of those days where I am pretty sure the phrase "one of those days" was made up for. Nothing really that huge happened for it to be named one of those days. Just a bunch of little things.

But

I did make it through and everything is alright. At this point, I really am just looking forward to getting into my bed. But first I think I will watch some OLD OLD OLD episodes of the Office. Because these days if you want to laugh while watching the Office, you can't watch the new ones... that's for sure!

Today, I am grateful for my blog. I forget what a time capsule this thing is. I put so many things on here long ago that I completely forgot about and I am very happy that I did.

this post goes here and there and everywhere!

Hey my party people!!! Jk. If you are reading this at this hour on Friday, I would say that you aren't a "party people" but hey, some might think blog reading is partying.

Today is Friday. Rebecca Black said it best when she said  "yesterday was Thursday, today is Friday." Truer words have never been spoken by a Youtube "star." I'm 100% sure I have used that line on this blog before but I guess what is bound to happen when you have a blog for 2 years.

As I sit in my apartment with South Park on the TV and ponder the day that is Friday... I have come to the conclusion that I kind of don't like Fridays. According to the Facebook and Twitter I feel like I am the only person who feels this way and who has never exclaimed "TGIF" But whatever.

Hint #1 to find out there is zero going on in my life: I am talking about my feelings on Friday on a Friday night. But I am a hermit at heart and have no problem with going into hermitation (another form of hybernation that I am pretty sure I just invented)  for long periods of time.

I saw 21 Jump Street the other night. It pretty much rocked my world. There was a healthy amount of loud laughter coming not just from me but the entire theater. If there was food or popcorn in my mouth, it would have been spit out, fo sho.

Here is my new hair. It looks kind of purple-ish.

you don't have to win money to have fun.

This weekend was F-U-N.
On Saturday, Steve, Brian and I went out to Wendover for a friend's birthday.
You see a lot of things in Wendover... some sad, some funny, some confusing, and some very disturbing. And we saw it all.

We didn't have any luck playing Blackjack... but we still had a lot of fun, mostly at the buffet.
We were driving from one casino to the other and I accidentally forgot to turn on my headlights. We got pulled over and even though the cop and a loud, intimidating voice that really scared me.. he just told me to remember to turn my lights on.
On the way home, we drove out to the Salt Flat Speeway. I got my picture taken like a model.
The Salt Flats here in Utah are basically a huge desert, but instead of dirt and sand... it's salt.

My final winnings from the Rainbow Casino:

Big time Poker tournaments in Las Vegas... here I come. Just kidding.

bits of my weekend.

(above) This is my new hair color. This is also the second box I had to buy since the first ran out. This is also the color that stained my hands and scalp bright red. My hair is now the color of that girl's on the box. I like it. (R1 Dark Intense Auburn - Garnier)
(above) OMG. What your precious little eyes are looking at Reader is the new grocery store that is located less than three minutes from our apartment. It's called Harmons. And it's bitchin'. It is two stories and you have view like this. Not only does it have aisles and aisles of cheap groceries, but it has a bakery, a deli, a floral area, a buffet, a sushi bar, a coffee place, little shops and sitting areas above the aisles. This is pretty close to being heaven for me. I keep trying to come up with a pun involving "glorious" and "grocery" but I am coming up with nothing. Let me know if you are more successful.
Again. My heaven.
That is a cutie nectarine orange. I had close to a million this weekend. So so so delightful but so so so annoying to peel. Complain.

I didn't do much this weekend. If you really wanted to see what my weekend looked like, it would be this:
Because I watched 50+ episodes of Golden Girls. I love this show. Dorothy (Beatrice Arthur) is my hero.
This show actually (for some reason) actually makes me excited to get old.

Thanks for reliving this weekend with me!

my hair magically grew an impressive seven inches.

JUST KIDDING.
Or as the kids these day say,
"Jk."
Those are just extensions.
I got them from Sally's Beauty Store.
You just clip them in every day as you wish.
So if one day I want long mermaid hair, I clip them in.
If one day I want my normal shoulder length hair, I don't clip them in.
If I want to look like an idiot, I clip only a few extensions in.
Ta-da!

I am professional at getting really bored and restless with my hair. This explains my history of the famous blonde to brunette to blonde to brunette to [accidental] copper to brunette phases that start and end in tears. So if you get bored easy with your hair, I would recommend these clip in extensions.

Oh and here are two things that should be hanging on my fridge right now:

some things that i like so much i want to print them out and frame them or something.

Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of other's opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary. -Steve Jobs

the newest owner of a VW bus.

I, Kaleena, am proud to announce I am now an owner of a VW bus.

!!!

This is the part where I should probably tell you that it's just a toy VW bus.
But I want a real one so bad that I had to settle on this little toy one and it's probably the closest I will get to owning one.
I still wish my future husband and I can buy a real one and take a road trip across the United States for our honeymoon.
Awww.

snow.

It snowed a lot this weekend.
And it's snowing again right now.
My favorite thing is how pretty the snow looks sitting on the tree branches.
