blood and nail polish = my monday.

There is a giant bandage/band aid on my right index finger right now --- making it SUPER hard to deliver this post to you. Can you tell how much I love you?

When I got home from work, I was getting some things out of the trunk of my car. Somewhere between the harmless picking up the tshirt up out of my trunk, my index finger was sliced open. (#lifeofkaleena) I didn't even know until I was walking into my apartment and saw blood droplets.

I go inside, walk into my bathroom, In shock that my tiny pointer finger is producing this much blood to gush everywhere. I reach for the box of band aids and accidentally knock over a bottle of nail polish.

*envision a purple nail polish falling from the top shelf to the hard tiled bathroom floor in slow motion as everything is silent*

And just like that, purple nail polish covers the bathroom floor, the bottom of the toilet, some splatters on the rug, and some splatters on the tub. Meanwhile, what the nail polish failed to cover - my finger is covering it in blood. This all happened... 2 minutes apart?

And that's the story how I lost my right hand.

Jk. My right hand is still here, it just took a while for me to bandage it since I had a nail polish shenanigan.

DISCLAIMER: my phone photo quality is CRAP.

possible coincidence... but i never really know.

Right now I'm laying on my bed, propped up on my three pillows piled in a corner, my knees up so my laptop is resting between them and my tummy and my cell phone is laying on my chest.
It's not there for any particular reason.
 I just set it there.
I think I checked the time or something.
Now that I painted that image of me for you....

Today was a really great day. Not much more to say about it than just that.
It's really easy for me to have negative thoughts, feel sad, and be really tough on myself. I've been trying really hard lately (a literal every day struggle) to not think this way, be more positive, and give myself a break.

I read somewhere once, that if you smile first thing in the morning, you will have a wonderful day and be happier in general. I thought of that tidbit of absolute bull crap as I was driving to work (kinda late, oops) at about 8:40AM. So, I did this huge, cheesy, sarcastic smile. Almost like I was mocking that theory. It must have worked because I was in a good mood all day, I felt happier, and here I am laying in bed reflecting at how productive today felt. But the brain is a powerful thing.

Here are some sayings and things that have been stuck in my brain lately:

- The end is built into the beginning. (whenever I spell beginning, I want to spell it like "begininningnningnng because that's how it feels when I'm typing it, ugh)

-My mama always said you've got to put that past behind you before you can move on.

-One day you are just going to be a memory to someone, so make it a good one.

today is one of those days where...

I'm having a bad hair day... just terrible. Why is my hair doing this? Fly aways but also looking really flat.

I'm having a bad outfit day... ugh.

I woke up wearing heavy boots... as Oskar Schell from Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close would say. I felt like I was feeling every feeling there is to feel but exhausted and defeated where the most dominant.

The minutes are crawling by.

It reminded me of the Chuck Palahniuk quote: "“Today is the sort of day where the sun only comes up to humiliate you.”

In conclusion... can this day be over yet?

good thing we have tons of spare keys around......not.

I got locked out today. It was the most boring hour and half I ever sat through.
I didn't have anything with me.... not even my phone or a book.
So I had nothing to do but sit on the front lawn and wait.
And wait.
And wait.
And wait.

I will be honest, I was pissed at first. I hate when something so avoidable (like getting locked out) happens because you really have nothing to blame it on besides the fact that someone was stupid for one second.

But sitting on the grass with nothing to do but just sit and look around at the things around you was actually nice. I haven't done that since I was probably in high school so it was great.
Two different guys walked up to me and asked what the freak I was doing...
(as if a girl sitting on the front lawn is strange?)
I explained my situation and one said "you look like a little girl waiting for the ice cream truck."
and i said, "was that a fat joke?" (as a joke)
He hesitated to laugh because he thought I was serious but I clearly wasn't.
Am I ever?

monday nothingness.

Fact:
I haven't seen the movie The Sixth Sense in like 10 years. But for some reason last night when I was trying to fall asleep, the only thing I could think about is all the scary scenes from that movie. My brain sucks sometimes. As in always.

Update:
I'm supposed to be getting my car back today and I am EXCITED. I have been missing my car and have big plans to clean it. Like, CLEAN clean it. I'm excited.... like i've already mentioned. I have a feeling that when I'm done cleaning my car i'll be in one of those moods where I'll want to clean the whole world.

Grateful for:
My dad for helping me out with my car finances. Very grateful indeed. I'm also grateful for my mom just because.

Another fact:
How hot has this summer been? The answer to that is too damn hot. Ugh.

Thought:
I can't beleive July 2012 is almost over. Sometimes I still think it's 2011. Whhaaaa.

Useless info:
So when I was at the Reel Big Fish concert on Saturday, they mentioned they have been around since 1991. In my head I thought, whoa, that's like ten years.... but then I ACTUALLY thought about it and realized that is TWENTY years. 1991 (or the 90's in general) seems like it was just a few years ago but it sure wasn't. Anyway, I was trippin. I always think of 2005 or 2002 and think those years are still fresh and new, but they aren't. And now I'm old.

surprise in the mail.

That awesome thing hanging from my rear view mirror is my latest surprise in the mail!
It's the Bee-otch air freshener from the Transformer movies.

Today I am thankful for... the Neti Pot.

things i don't suck at today.

Here is a list of things I don't suck at today.

1. Making miso soup. Miso is a delightful tofu soup.

2. Waking up early. Starting today, I started showering in the mornings again, instead of at night. That means rolling out of my bed and tripping on my piles of clothes in the dark at 6am instead of 8:45am.

3. Napping on the recliner part of the couch within 30 minutes of getting home from work.

4. Drinking water when I really really really wanted a Mountain Dew.

5. Picturing a T-Rex trying to put on a hat when I got a little sad to cheer me up.

dear kaleena.

I am going to write a letter to myself because I can.

Dear Kaleena,

Today when you woke up, you were hoping someone was going to be standing by your bed (without a weapon) to tell you that you didn't have to go to work today. After being disappointed that you DID have to go to work you, you got to use your space heater for the first time since the Winter and was happy about it. When you took a break for lunch, you saw a sad flyer posted on a pole that was for a lost dog... but instead of it saying 'lost dog' it said 'lost friend' and it basically broke your heart and you started to cry a little. You looked up recipes and came across one called "taco pie" and you pulled a really disgusted face at the image that popped into your head of a "taco pie". You finally found one for a lasagna and went to the store to get the ingredients. Making the lasagna went great until you cut your left index finger wide open and couldn't find a band aid in time. After overreacting to the cut and almost calling 911, you finished dinner and the lasagna was a great success. Then, you remembered that you will be getting paid tomorrow and was drowning in excitement. You made a note to yourself that read:

I will only spend this paycheck on bills and nothing else. I will only spend this paycheck on bills and nothing else. I will only spend this paycheck on bills and nothing else. I will only spend this paycheck on bills and nothing else. I will only spend this paycheck on bills and nothing else. I will only spend this paycheck on bills and nothing else. I will only spend this paycheck on bills and nothing else. I will only spend this paycheck on bills and nothing else.

Then you found this pretty picture on the interwebz:

Kaleena, even though you didn't really DO anything today, you still loved this day. Now go shower before it gets too late, remember to check for spiders so you don't have another duel.

if everyday was like monday.

It's Monday. And here are some pancakes for you. I really don't mind Mondays.... I only don't like them when I've been on vacation for three days. I was hoping work would go by super freaky duper fast which it did and in which I am thankful for. I was sososososo happy to get home and as I arrived to this lovely apartment of mine, I was greeted by the pile of luggage from my trip I don't want to unpack. So.... I'm not going to ask anyone to come unpack it for me, but that would be the ideal situation. Do you know what the worse part of vacations are? The part where you have to come home and unpack... with blisters all over your sad feet.

Anyway. One month ago, I decided to grow out my bangs. I am more than certain your hair will grow and grow and grow but when you actually want it to grow, it stops growing. So, I am going to go for a drive and be busy growing my hair/bangs.

tee hee.

Happy Memorial Day! I am doing everything I can to stretch this long 4-day holiday weekend even longer. Please don't end, pleeeeeeease!! I guess I still have a 4 day work week to look forward to instead of a dreadful 5. Yes, just ONE day can make all the difference. I will leave you to enjoy the rest of your Monday with these pictures:

I feel terrible for the poor girl on the right for so many reasons. You know that after this picture was taken she was begging for it either to be deleted or not put on the internet. She has cruel friends, but I am thankful for those cruel friends.

monday monday, can't trust that day.

Gooooooooooooood Monday morning! I thought it was very rude of the weekend to leave on such short notice. This morning I would love to be eating pancakes with sausage and bacon in our nice cozy kitchen.

Instead, I will be sitting in my cave at work, at a lonely desk, on a hard (and obnoxiously squeaky) chair eating Special K out of a paper bowl. Nom nom nom? I think not.

Hope you have an enjoyable Monday/week, don't let it kill you, or the man wins.
