NYC in three days.

Reader, guess what!

Alysha and I are flying to NYC on Wednesday and coming back on Sunday night. Well... at least planning to come back on Sunday. There is a chance I will end up staying if I love it too much.

I'm really excited. Not just because I'll be walking around NYC and hopefully running into Jesse Lacey (because he lives there), but because I love hanging out in airports (for people watching) and seeing the flight attendants doing their hand motions.

Here is a list of everything I want to see/do:

-Cafe Wha? -the cafe where Bob Dylan, Lou Reed/Velvet Underground, Jimi Hendrix, Bruce Springsteen were all discovered and first played.
-Statue of Liberty
-Empire State Building
-Central Park
-Madison Square Garden
-Tom's Diner -the restaurant from Seinfield
-Ride the Subway
-Go ice skating
-The Met
-Grimaldi's Pizza
-Brooklyn Bridge
-Ride in a taxi
-Hail a taxi

That's all I can think of right now. There will be lots more and I will be documenting every step and taking pictures.

26 hours.

Guess how long it took to get to San Francisco on a bus? 12 hours.
Guess how long it took to get back home from San Francisco on a bus? 14 hours.
26 hours total were spent on a bus traveling to and from San Francisco.
26 hours later and we are back in Utah.
I'm happy to be home but not happy that I will be at work tomorrow and no longer in San Francisco.
The worst part about a trip/vacation, is the part where you have to come home and not be on it anymore.
I had a fun time though, I have pictures to prove it. I didn't want to leave.

one bus ride later.

On Thursday night, we stepped onto a bus in Salt Lake City and fifteen hours later, we were stepping off that same bus in L.A. It was only supposed to be eleven hours but the bus had some issues. A lot of people think an eleven to fifteen hour bus ride sounds frightful and daunting but I truly enjoy long rides. Plenty of time to stare out the window and think, listen to music, talk and watch the guy across the aisle on the bus with pretzel crumbs on his shirt sleep with his face jammed against the window. I have more pictures to show you prove to you that I really was in L.A than your parents have of you on your first day of school standing in front of the fireplace. but right now, I wanted to give you a short list of some things that happened on the way there, there, and the way back.

+Bus breaks down. Obviously.
+I slept on the floor on the bus and used a roll of paper towels for a pillow. I don't know what it means that it was probably one of the best nights of sleep I've ever slept.
+There was a guy on the bus who looked like Jim Morrison. Hair and all. Oh yeah.
+I found an 'Elvis Presley Blvd' keychain at a gas station.
+The walk from our hotel to Venice Beach was soo far that the bottom of my place have been replaced with blisters.
+I think our hotel room was haunted. Unless all hotels in California have yawning noises coming from the closet at 3AM.
+We stood in the ocean for the first time in 2011!
+Somebody went #2 on the bus bathroom. I thought it was unspoken rule that you don't go #2 when you are on a bus ride that is 11+ hours. We should find the person who did this crime and lock them in there as a punishment. I'm afraid this smell will never leave my nose or memory.
+Drove through Las Vegas.
+ Ate at iHop. Twice.
+We ate a huge bag of gummy bears. Wahoooo!

That is all for now. To be continued tomorrow. The next space is a silence dedicated for all the lives lost because of September 11th. xoxo

bits of my weekend.

I loved this weekend because:
1. It was spent down in Moab, Utah. For those of you not familiar with Utah... Moab is basically a place full of outdoor activities, hippies, Subarus, Hummers (gag), heat, gift shops, cheap motels, red rocks, dirt, and Delicate Arch (the arch that is on our state license plate).
2. I faced the torturous hike to Delicate Arch. One water bottle and many rest stops later, I was finally there. See? Lazy people can hike too.
3. I licked my way through a Superman ice cream, and oh yes, it was with a waffle cone.
4. I saw a Bassador. What is a Bassador? Well, a Bassador is, are you ready? A Basset Hound Dog mixed with a Lab! I didn't know I was capable of giving so many hugs to a dog I didn't even know.
5. We went off-roading. Have you ever tried eating Chex Mix while going over large rocks at 15mph in an SUV? Well, it's messy.

I didn't love this weekend because:
1. After staring at the spot on the wall right above my laptop screen for a few minutes, I can't really think of anything I didn't like about this weekend. Oh, except that I forgot my swimsuit so I had to sit in a chair extremely close to the hot tub. I basically felt like a mom who had to supervise.

Prepare to be overwhelmed with nature photos..

 NATURE!!

greetings from san diego!

By the time you read this Reader, I will be in San Diego. As this second I'm probably cuddling with some sort of sea animal, hopefully a Sea Lion... or perhaps an otter.

Guess what? When I Googled sea otter, it brought up this picture and the caption said, "Otterlicious" That leads me to believe there is some sort of cult that adores sea otters as much as I do.

I just wanted to say HI!

south bend, indiana -- PART II

Part II
The Airports.

(above) Me with the first of several boarding passes of the trip.

What to do when you are a prisoner in the Chicago airport 4+ hours....
...and Steve is asleep....
...You walk around til you find one of these.

Oh and airports are some sort of kingdom for people watchers of the world. My Utopia has been found!

even thinking about this list makes me excited.

Kaleena's teeny tiny list of things I'm looking forward to and makes me clap and have a fit of joy when I think about them:
  • Carving pumpkins next week. I actually don't even know if this is even happening. I suppose someone somewhere next week will be carving pumpkins, so if you are reading this... I'M EXCITED FOR YOU.
  • Grocery shopping in the morning. I truly adore spending my Sunday mornings at the grocery store. I seriously feel a little butterfly twirl in my stomach when I think about going to the grocery store. It doesn't get better than wandering up and down aisles filling your basket with a whole lot of things you and your American thighs don't really need.
  • Eating the jar of Nally Baby Dill Pickles I will get while grocery shopping.
  • Flying on an airplane and spending November 11th-14th in Indiana.
  • Riding on a bus from Salt Lake City, Utah to San Diego, California from November 18-21. The wheels on the bus go round and round....
  • Decorating our house for Christmas. I have an idea list that's longer than Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
  • November 19th.... EXPECTO PATRONUM!
  • ZzzzzZzzzZzzz
Note to self: find real things worthy of having a fit of joy for.
