a day in logan, utah.

A day in Logan, Utah is a day too long, that is for sure.
Once upon a time, I really, really liked the city Logan.
Whenever I went up there as a kid to visit, I would declare I was going to move there when I was old enough and I loved everything about it.
Now when I go up to Logan, the only thing I think of is how insane I was as a child for thinking that.
Logan isn't that bad, after all, I am the queen of exaggeration.

My camera on my phone is highly unimpressive. But I really wanted to take a picture of how pretty the snowy hills and mountains looked when we drove through Logan Canyon.

In Logan we:
+Ate at Formosa. A delicious Chinese restaurant. My fortune cookie actually had a fortune, it said: your efforts in a certain area will soon pay off.
+Saw some people/friends I haven't seen in forever and a day.
+Went to the Utah State University basketball game.
+Sat in the most uncomfortable seat.
+Went to Coldstone to get some ice cream. I got cake batter with oreo.

snow.

It snowed a lot this weekend.
And it's snowing again right now.
My favorite thing is how pretty the snow looks sitting on the tree branches.

expectations vs reality.

What I wish would have happened today:
-Wake up comfortably warm in my bed without a pounding migraine.
-Go to the basketball game.
-Not get my jeans and shoes soaking wet from the snow.
-Go to Barnes and Noble and spend hours browsing the books.
-Walk around town and take pictures of all my favorite places covered in snow.

What really happened:
-Woke up in my bed all kinds of crazy-sweaty hot with a pounding migraine.
-Went to the basketball game but didn't enjoy it cause of the migraine.
-Got my jeans and shoes soaking wet because of the snow. This is the worst part of winter.
-Didn't go to Barnes and Noble and spend hours there.
-Didn't walk around town and take pictures of all my favorite places covered in snow.
-Went to sushi with my sister.

What is the lesson that we learned by reading the difference between these lists? That migraines DO in fact ruin everything.

four things that don't make me mad.

1. These pictures I took this morning.
2. Snow.
3. The weekend.
4. Being warm.

Those four things are basically what is happening right now, so I am happy and not mad.

SNOW yeah, baby.

That is a picture of falling snow and a lamp post.
I was pretty happy to see snow falling from the sky.
We went to a basketball game tonight, and as we were walking out, we saw it had been snowing.
I caught a snowflake on my tongue.

I love the snow.
Even if it makes my hair go wet, flat and wavy.

I got to leave work early today.
Very few things are more pleasing than hearing you get to leave work, a place you don't like spending mass amounts of time, early.
I could be having an awful hair day, have no feet, hungry, wearing soaking wet clothes.. and none of this would matter as long as I would find out that day, I would get to leave work early.

a weekend i think everyone should experience.

This post is brought you by the girl (me) in the red, thick knitted beanie hat.

I have tragic and disappointing news. My laptop no longer reads my memory card when I insert it, so as of right now, you will never see a picture that I have photographed... again. So, since I cannot show the pictures I took myself, I will just have to explain them and find something similar on Google. Thank goodness for Google.

It snowed on Thursday, and that made me feel pretty happy and I took a picture to remember that day. The snow pretty much looked like this:

Then, that same day, it had the most beautiful sunset. If Gorgeous and Beautiful had a child, it would have been the sunset on Thursday night. The picture I found on Google won't do it justice, obviously.

Since, my favorite thing to do on a weeknight when it's snowing/raining outside is to cuddle up inside and be warm... I put on my warm cozy, fuzzy socks. Which look a little like this:

Then, on Saturday night, we went out to Wendover. Basically, Wendover is Las Vegas' forgotten step brother who has to live under the stairs and do the chores nobody wants to do. We sat and played the blackjack tables and I turned five bucks into............ 118 BUCKS. You read that right, Reader.... 118 BUCKS!! I am basically a millionaire now. While we were out there, I was invited to a party by a... man. Room 311. I said no.

In conclusion, this weekend ROCKED! I'm pretty sure I haven't used that phrase since I was in 5th grade, but that just goes to show how awesome this weekend was. Still wish I could upload my own photos though....

meanwhile on 2nd ave...

Reader. I am the best. And I'm about to tell you why.

Well, last night, a big, mean, brutal headache snuck up on me and... basically dominated me. I had a hard time falling asleep. I know, that has nothing to do with why I am the best.

But. This morning, (even though my head was still throbbing when I woke up) I stepped out of my warm nest that doubles as a bed early. Steve, being the handsome scholar he is, was getting ready for school.. I went out and scraped the 6 inches of snow and ice off his car.

Aren't I the best? Steve: you are welcome.

i live in utah and like the winter.

I like Winter.

I do not like when you are driving while it's snowing and after you come to a stop and open the door and step out... the snow from on top of the car, drops down right on your shoulder and goes all down your shirt. Boooo!

what did you do at work today?

I started my work day by crawling.. CRAWLING on all fours over a snow pile to get into my office building. I wish this was a joke. Oh, and I was carrying a cake too. Do you ever wonder how I get myself into these situations Reader?

Shortly after I was struggling on all fours on a heap of snow, I found myself quietly whimpering at my desk with wet knees, pink hands and a face plasterd with snow flakes and shame.

Besides crawling over snow piles, I got 18 free dollars at work today. However, I'm not going to share how because you will think I am a terrible human being and say I'm going to Hell on a rocket. I didn't steal or hold anyone at gun point or anything, let's just say... there was a misunderstanding with said cake. My first thought when I got the 18 bucks wasn't to buy lunch (even though my stomach was yelling at me), early Christmas presents, or 18 jr. bacon cheeseburgers. My first thought was to lay out the 3 five dollar bills and and 3 one dollar bills and roll around... roll around and laugh evily. You do that when you have a lot of money, right?

i like snow.

Utah is getting a large blizzard tonight. The news people are calling it, Utah Blizzard 2010. But I call it Snowmageddon 2010.

Reader, I am sick. I've been sick since late Sunday night. Not the type of sick where I start...er... continue to write my will and start thinking, this will be my last Thanksgiving; but the sick where when I cough it feels like someone is shredding my lungs with a cheese grader and  pumping my sinuses up with a bike tire pump.

Then, after work yesterday, Steve and I went to the grocery store and got some Theraflu, Cold-eeze, and a Neti Pot. My plan was to murder this cold, destruction!! So far, so great. For once it's:

Evil Satan Cold: 0 Kaleena: 1

Today I am thankful for:
+ Theraflu, the Neti Pot and Vitamin C.
+ My puffy white vest with green and brown stripes at the top.
+ This insane blizzard! So many snow angles will be made, it will be phenomenal.
+ Phone call from a best friend.
+ Having Steve as a boyfriend and roommate.

ski utah! and skiing requires snow.

I was pleased when I got home today to a Bernese Mountain Dog on the front lawn.

Was this real?

Was this dog mine?

Did someone finally find it in their hearts to get me my dream dog?

Is that Steve dressed in a costume for Halloween? He does a really stupendous dog impression.

I was not pleased when the bastard owner walked up and asked why I was calling it Spot, brushing it's hair and singing lullabys to it.

Years ago, I lived in a very warm,  somewhat dark and comfortable place. Food was always provided and fed to me, I got to relax, and frankly, I could kick it whenever I wanted. This lasted for about nine months where I was then forced to relocate... I was basically pulled out. My mom has a strict 9 month lease.

So here I am today, living in Salt Lake City. Where we have weather patterns. Snow being included in those patterns. Where it generally snows from October-April and yes, sometimes early May. Want to know how I know this? Because I've lived here for twenty-one years. I'm sharing with this with you Reader, for one reason... that reason being: it's astonishing how many Utahns (my age and older) are still shocked when they see snow and will go out of their way to let you know what they were doing when they discovered it was snowing.

Living in Utah, you should not be startled to see snow.  However, you should be startled though if you meet a girl in Provo who isn't a Twilight maniac.
