24 next month. wut.

Age is weird. Not the concept of age or accepting that you are getting older.. but just remembering.

The other day I was at a gas station and a cop was like "are you 17?" (not sure why he was asking that, I was just standing in line with a Mountain Dew. Pervert)

So I said, "No, I'm of legal age."

He replied with, "21?"

And I thought to myself... Am I 21 or 22? And I was like Duh, I'm 24.

Well later that day I realized/remembered that I am 23. LOL. Wut?

So I'm twenty-four next month and it's weird because I still feel like I'm nineteen. I wish I was nineteen. I liked nineteen. I will make a list of twenty-four things.. hmm.. how about, twenty-four things I just suck at. Because when you are me, there are a lot of things you suck at.

I suck at...

1. Getting stuff done that needs to be done. I moved a month ago and there is STILL stuff in my trunk I should unpack. But no. Just no.

2. Planning ahead.

3. Getting enough sleep.

3. Not over analyzing EVERYTHING.

4. Remembering everything I need at the grocery store.

5. Cooking.

6. Math.

7. Resisting to talk to animals I see walking past me.

8. Staying focused.

9. Drinking more water than pop.

Here is an unplanned intermission from this boring list... I got a haircut and it's kind of short and I love it because it looks and feels healthy again but I hate it because I have no split ends to pick at. Now what will I do on the phone or in traffic??

10. Making small and big decisions.

11. Staying mad at someone. Actually, this depends. I have been known to hold a grudge.

12. Articulating what I want to say.

13. Remembering what I was going to say.

14. Coming up with lists that needs twenty-four items.

15. Using the same amount of shampoo and conditioner so they run out at the same time.

16. Using my bread and produce before they expire or go gross.

17. Remembering to text back.

18. Writing.

19. Having legible handwriting.

20. Saving money.

21. Not being shy.

22. Knowing where a letter in the alphabet is without singing the entire alphabet.

23. Doing stuff on my bucket list.

24.Being an adult.

lover.

Yesterday was Jim Morrison's birthday. I really think I get more excited for his birthday than  my own for some reason. If only he was still alive... I would know what it would be like for someone to have a restraining order on me. Ha. I LOVE JIM MORRISON and I would write letters to tell him how good his living room furniture looks from his front lawn.

I mean look at that face...

That hair!

And listen to this voice/music....

Hello, I love you.

Wednesday, June 20, 2012

hey hey heeyyyy.

Do you every annoy the absolute crap out of yourself? There are some days when I am so crazy and hyper and full of energy and I'm all by myself (this usually happens in the car or when I'm home alone) and I start to annoy myself. I've been doing that a lot this week.

I was driving home from work on Monday... I was full of energy, crazy-hyper and stuck in traffic. All are ingredients to me about to annoy myself. I started singing along to the music in weird voices and changing the lyrics to what I was seeing around me. 30 minutes later, I wanted to kick myself out of the car and not talk to myself for a week... because that's what I would usually do if I was riding with someone who was annoying me.

Typing all this out, I realize how crazy I sound. Oh well.

According to the countdown on my homepage of my cell phone... there are just 5 little ol' days til my 23rd birthday. So. Here is a list of things I want. Some things are realistic, some things are definitely not.

1. A bunny.
2. Drop Dead Fred on DVD.
3. A crab/seafood dinner.
4. A certificate stating that I can eat at Buffalo Wild Wings anytime I want for free.
5. Money.
6. That Shaun of the Dead tshirt I saw in a catalog a few months ago.
7. A trip to Graceland.
8. A trip to New York.
9. A puppy/dog.
10. Peonies.
11. A fedora hat.
12. The full series of Growing Pains on DVD. I was obsessed with that show. I cried on the series finale. Ugh. Emotional times
13. A pet duck.
14. A vespa.
15. A bike... a beach cruiser bike.
16. Tickets to the Neil Diamond concert. He's coming here in July! (i think it's July, it might be August).

I think that's it. It always seems like I want a lot but when I type it out, nothing comes to mind.

i can't believe i am almost 23...

Just a few things...

1. I wish it was Wednesday. Because if it was Wednesday, I would be getting paid. And I really really really really (adding a fifth really) REALLY need to get paid.

2. I am setting a mini goal for myself this week. It is: to work at least 9 hours a day. I know that sounds lame and silly and there are much bigger goals I could be setting... but I need some extra dough (see thing #1 above) and work has been so slow that I've been only getting 6-7 hours. So this week I will make myself stay for 8 or 9 hours.

3. My birthday is next Monday. CELEBRATE good times, COME ON!

4. I woke up with probably the worst... really, the WORST migraine I've yet to have in this life. But after suffering, I tried putting some ice on my neck and it worked really well. So the next time you have a headache or migraine that will make you want to die, try putting some ice on  your neck and it will help.

5. One of my biggest annoyances in life is when people have the TV up loud. Ugh. I hate it.

6. I have been trying to wear my hair with the middle part and I liked it at first but with each passing day, I'm thinking no. It's gotta go back to the side part.

7. I love finding home made natural remedies for things. Like, if you want to fade acne scars? You just rub lemon juice on them. Or if you want to make your skin look healthy and glowy, just rub chamomile tea on it. Yay!

15 days.

Guess what? There are just 15 days until I turn 23!  Can you believe it? I can. And I am actually excited for my birthday this year... considering what awful and truly upsetting event happened two days after my birthday last year.

This is what I want for my birthday this year....

And I also want pretty much everything off of this website:  http://thisiswhyimbroke.com/

Anyway... I have been really happy lately. I have been making a lot of progress in certain parts of my life that I thought would forever be unchangeable. It's amazing how much control you do have over your own happiness.

2.

Two years ago today when I was sitting home on a Saturday while it was raining listening to the Temper Trap : Sweet Disposition, I decided to start a blog.
I am the queen of starting things and never sticking with them.
So I am pretty much shocked that two years later I am blogging.

I didn't even know how much I would love blogging.
I can't believe how much has changed with me and my life since that first post.
I'm grateful to have this blog.
It's a great place to keep my stories, collect my thoughts and feelings, and post my photos.

I've always loved and appreciated the little things in this world but since having this blog, it has really made me appreciate those things more.

Most of all, it made me meet you, Reader. So thank you Reader, for being the reader that you are.
I really do adore you.

Happy birthday Blog!
I love you.
I am too broke to get you a present.

the king lives.

Happy Birthday Elvis!
In honor of your birthday,
I will wear my Elvis shirt.
Listen to all your CD's.
Watch your movies.
Elvis, I love you.

If I was alive when you were alive and famous,
I would definitely be one of those insane girls at your concerts trying to climb on stage and fighting the security guards.
I would be the reason they would have to invent a restraining order.

bits of my weekend.

So, this is where bits of my weekend usually goes. But since stupid, silly me didn't take any pictures over the weekend, ahem, MY BIRTHDAY WEEKEND, I feel like an idiot and decided to take this spot to dedicate what could've have been a place to document my 22nd birthday weekend.

Moving on.

A lot of big changes have been happening to me. And sometimes they don't hit me, but when they do it's all at once. It all finally catches up to me. It keeps adding up and adding up. Getting heavier and heavier. And then the 'what if's' start bouncing around my brain (can I please tell you I first typed 'brain as breine).

What if X never happens.
What if X will be forever.
What if I don't make it to McDonald's breakfast in time
What if X never gets figured out.
What if I take a shower and when I come out, I'm in a parallel universe.

As you can see, some what ifs are legitimate and some are just silly.

My Sister threw me a little birthday party tonight. She baked me my favorite red velvet cupcakes and I wore a white button up shirt today. So basically at the end of the party my white shirt was no longer white. But white with little red stains everywhere. Because records show that I will only spill when I am wearing white... and other color for that matter.

Also, I need a new method on repairing broken things. I typically bang on it or hit the thing a few times to make it work and when it doesn't work after I'm done hitting it, I'm left scratching my head.

21 while 21.

Twenty-one years old.
I am completely aware that I say this every day before my next birthday, but this time I mean it. Twenty-one years old has been my most favorite age so far. It will forever be remembered in my messy head as my favorite age.

21 things I did while I was 21.

1. Bowled my highest bowling score. 184. Oh yeah.
2. Flew on an airplane for the very first time.
3. Went to Las Vegas for the first time.
4. Got another ear piercing.
5. Got a new car all on my own.
6. Had my wallet stolen. Mr. Burglarjerkdude, I am still angry at you.
7. Won employee of the month.... TWICE.
8. Tried sushi for the first time and became obsessed shortly after.
9. Lost some friends but gained some even better ones.
10. Kept up my ever-so-persistent habit of picking my split ends.
11. Saw a Utah football game in the Notre Dame football stadium. This is huge news.
12. Went through a major baking phase and made close to a bajillion red velvet cupcakes.
13. Was a bridesmaid in one of my friend's wedding.
14. Didn't get sick once! Uh-oh. I really, really, really hope I didn't just jynx that.
15. Saw these concerts: She & Him, Modest Mouse, Smashing Pumpkins, Silversun Pickups, and CAKE.
16. Decorated my first Christmas tree since I've moved out. 'Twas the prettiest Christmas tree. *sniff, sniff*
17. Rode a wave runner for the first time. Daniel Tosh was right. It's impossible to frown while riding one of them.
18. Beat Steve in mini golf. This was HUGE breaking news. No one as ever beat him in his 22 years.
19. Formed an incurable addiction to Amazon.com.
20. Went hiking in the snow. It wasn't as miserable as it sounds.
21. Had to endure the dreaded day at the DMV where I had to renew my license. I survived.

I wish some cool things were on that list. Like, skydiving, winning the lottery, riding a dolphin, winning a prize, etc.

happy early birthday, kaleena! love, kaleena.

I bought myself some early birthday presents at Target with no intentions of them being for my birthday til I wanted to justify the reason I bought them. For my birthday! Sure, why not.

My bikini. It made its debut tonight when I went swimming with my Sister. I was awkwardly lingering on the lawn because that moment when you take off your clothes and reveal yourself in a swimsuit to the people of pool is just so terrible. I waited a solid 15 minutes before I was brave enough. I was kind of hoping for a round of applause for the courage it took, but I guess everyone was too busy swimming.
Flip flops. Yeah... just flips flops.
A mini skirt! Not just a mini skirt, but the first mini skirt I have ever owned/worn.

it's my birthday (soon) and i'll make wishlists if i want to!

I always have something that I am wanting and make several wishlists. Some are realistic things like cameras and some are things are not so realistic, like a Panda bear. But with my birthday coming up on June 25th, I've been getting asked "well what do you want?" and I end up staring into space cause I wasn't ready for the trick question. I always know what I want until someone asks me and then I have no idea what I want. So I pull the famous adult quote and say 'aw, I don't want you to get me a present' when really that is a lie. Anybody who ever says that is lying! Nobody is going to turn down a birthday gift. It's not like i'm expecting a present, but if you are offering, I will accept it and be grateful.

Now let's check out what made it to my birthday wish list this year (both realistic and non-realistic)

Zach Braff, of course. Zach, if you are reading this cause I know you love and read this blog, please say yes or no in the comment box.  Preferably yes.
 Canon Rebel XS
 Instax Mini 7
 PANDA BEAR
 Peacock earrings. Fake, please.
 Flowers. Any type, really.
 Sewing machine
St Bernard that I will name Dolly
 VW bus
Cheesecake!!!!
Shoes. Shoes. OHMYGOSH shoes.

q & a

 Question:

How is it that I still don't have anything to talk about it? This is coming from a girl that many times has been asked "do you ever stop talking?" or "wow, you do have a lot to say." or "do you want to play the quiet game?"

Answer:

I don't know.

So hmm. HMMMM. My birthday is coming up in June... and for the first time in the history of ever I am not excited. I don't have any paper chain countdowns. I haven't made any wishlists. I do not want to turn 22. So instead of celebrating my 22nd birthday, I will simply be celebrating the 1st anniversary of my 21st birthday. Because I'm overly dramatic and annoying like that.

I haven't made any lists in a while... here is a list of things I'm thankful for today:

1. The rain.
2. My adorable umbrella that I finally remembered to take so I could actually use it.
3. My Sisters.
4. Food.

However, there is one thing that I'm not thankful for today and that is:

1. Whatever it was I ate that made me so sick that I had to turn down a piece of chocolate birthday cake that was the size of my head. I wanted that piece of cake but my stomach said NO.

+When he makes to-do lists, he includes "driving home" or "drive to" and it makes me laugh.

+In 2008 he lived in New York for three weeks just cause.
+His two best impressions are: Chewbacca and Miss Piggy. Yes, you read Miss Piggy correctly.
+He's a referee!
+When he was little he would say 'orange shoes' like 'warange doos'
+He would rather spend a day in the mountains rather than a day at the beach.
+His favorite movie is Remember the Titans.

first post from 21 year old Kaleena.

Why do I always decide to blog when I'm eating a popsicle and it's nearly impossible for me to type and tend to my delicious, cold treat? Good question.

To tell you the truth, I haven't been in the blogging mood lately.

My birthday was the best. I don't know any other way to put it. We went up to Pineview to camp for the weekend. I didn't want to come back. :( I get attached to things way to easily. We did a lot of boating and spending time in the water. I have the red nose and shoulders to prove it. Unfortunately, my camera battery died so I wasn't able to take any pictures of my awesome weekend.

21 today.
