yo.

It's 12:38AM on a Friday.
I was up until 4:30AM last night.
Which meant work sucked.
Yawn, work, yawn, work, zone out.
Luckily I function pretty well on no sleep.
But regrettably it makes me grumpy.
But hey
it's all good.
That's what naps are for.

Things i'm looking forward to:
Dressing up as Shaun from Shaun of the Dead.
Sleeping. Ha.
Little things.
Making new playlists on Spotify (user profile https://open.spotify.com/user/1240390918) if you want to follow.
Expressing my perspective more.
Being myself.
Taking more pictures.
Everything for once.

Things i'm not looking forward to:
Still living with anxiety
Anxiety
People who talk a lot without saying anything really.

I need to work on:
Being present in the moment. Not anxious in future moments. Not caught up in past interactions.
Not worrying about what I said 2 weeks ago.
Directing all the buzz going on in my brain towards something productive and meaningful.
Not living through a screen. It creates this in-between reality that is useless.

bits of NYC.

Since it was my first time in New York, I wanted to document and capture everything but at the same time, I didn't want to truly miss the moment I was trying to capture because I was distracted by getting a picture. I took close to 100 pictures, but only chose my favorites and most memorable ones.

Cafe Wha? - It's the place that Jimi Hendrix, Lou Reed/Velvet Underground, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, all played/were first discovered. Alysha and I spent a good chuck of Saturday looking for this place. When we finally turned the corner and saw it right there, I was so happy and overwhelmed. I love thinking that I was standing/walking where all those talented musicians was stood and walked. And that's the closest I will get to meeting any of them.

Brooklyn Bridge

This is me failing at  blending in with the locals by doing the most tourist-y pose in Times Square. It was amazing.

The paper-cartoon-2D version of me and Alysha!! Alysha on the left and me on the right. Alysha and I are really similar when it comes to sense of humor and personalities except that I am very much right-brained and she more left-brained. So we were pretty excited when we realized I was drawn on the right (for right brained) and her on the left (for left brained).

Central Park. One of my favorite things we did/saw. Even though some parts of it was really stinky. Also, we are pretty sure we witnessed an engagement.

A few of the locals.

The Flat Iron building. It is one of the prettiest buildings I've seen.

Me and Alysha at some bar in Manhattan. This was a fun night. BUT. You know how some songs are just too sensitive to even listen to because they are linked to so much bittersweet memories that they mostly just make you sad? Well, this bar successfully played almost every single one of those songs for me. WTF bar in Manhattan.

Strawberry Fields. This is the John Lennon memorial in Central Park. Imagine all the people.... standing around admiring it.

Reader! This is the picture of when I finally found LOVE in New York! It was pretty magical so I sat on it.

Sbarro. My favorite New York pizza joint. So I went in and grabbed me a New York slice. If you aren't laughing then it is probably because you don't watch the Office or appreciate Michael Scott.

Radio City. And everyone in New York drives yellow cars! jk

Just a squirrel in Union Square Park snacking on a cookie and looking cuter than I ever will in my lifetime.

The Statue of Liberty. Seriously, I wasn't expecting to be so life like and walking around and can I just say that it was way more interactive than history books portrayed.

The Subway was also one of my favorite things.

The Met (museum). It was really fascinating.

Times Square.

same hair, new style.

I am as fickle as they come. Who 'they' is, I don't know but I am one of them I guess. I change my mind and feelings on everything so much that sometimes I just get impulsive.

Basically, my hair gets to experience my fickleness the most. That's why I go from bangs to no bangs, dark to blonde, from blonde to dark... even though every time I go back to blonde after dark, I swear it will be my last time. LOL at me ever saying anything is for the last time.

My recent act of impulsion was decided I wanted to get a 'long bob' haircut. Or a 'long a-line' The idea popped into my head around noon last Monday and by 5:45 that night, I had the haircut.

Here is what I asked for:

And this is what I got:

You can't tell but it's a bit shorter in the back. And basically I love it. It doesn't take that long to dry and style and I can wear it in a tiny ponytail. Also, do you know what is awkward? One woman fedora photo-shoots in your room while your bunny watches you.

girl in a hat.

Once upon a time I bought a fedora hat from Smith's Marketplace for 5 bucks.
Because I am ghetto like that and don't care where my clothes/accessories come from.
Well, I do at some level... but we can say that I'm not picky.
(I don't know who is included when I said "we" just now in that previous statement.)
Only when picky when it comes to food.
Speaking of food, I accidentally ate a spicy pickle last weekend.............. best accident I have ever made.
It was delish. And now I want a whole jar of spicy pickles.
Seriously. I am obsessed with spicy food and pickles so you can imagine my obsession right now.

this post goes here and there and everywhere!

Hey my party people!!! Jk. If you are reading this at this hour on Friday, I would say that you aren't a "party people" but hey, some might think blog reading is partying.

Today is Friday. Rebecca Black said it best when she said  "yesterday was Thursday, today is Friday." Truer words have never been spoken by a Youtube "star." I'm 100% sure I have used that line on this blog before but I guess what is bound to happen when you have a blog for 2 years.

As I sit in my apartment with South Park on the TV and ponder the day that is Friday... I have come to the conclusion that I kind of don't like Fridays. According to the Facebook and Twitter I feel like I am the only person who feels this way and who has never exclaimed "TGIF" But whatever.

Hint #1 to find out there is zero going on in my life: I am talking about my feelings on Friday on a Friday night. But I am a hermit at heart and have no problem with going into hermitation (another form of hybernation that I am pretty sure I just invented)  for long periods of time.

I saw 21 Jump Street the other night. It pretty much rocked my world. There was a healthy amount of loud laughter coming not just from me but the entire theater. If there was food or popcorn in my mouth, it would have been spit out, fo sho.

Here is my new hair. It looks kind of purple-ish.

when you have nothing left to burn, you have to set yourself on fire.

Hi hi hi!
Today was just a good day. Ignoring the fact that I had a bad hair day.
The weather today was the best it has been all year.
Several dogs were out & about being cute and adorable and doing the things dogs do.
(I swear I saw one dog look both ways before it crossed the road).
I was driving with the windows down.
I ate an orange dreamsicle.
I had the AC on... (before I rolled the windows down).

As I was walking out in this weather I realized how much I am not looking forward to summertime. I really wish it would stay this time of year all year long.

our new neighbor, the drummer.

The amount of wind blowing today was too freaking high! Today was just too windy.

This is me wearing lipstick on Saturday night. It's called "sugar plum" I really liked it.

We have a new neighbor that moved in the apartment down below us. He moved in yesterday. Today, in a loud manner we found out that the new guy plays the drums. Ugh. In all honesty, It would be kind of cool if he was good at playing them... but he isn't.

you don't have to win money to have fun.

This weekend was F-U-N.
On Saturday, Steve, Brian and I went out to Wendover for a friend's birthday.
You see a lot of things in Wendover... some sad, some funny, some confusing, and some very disturbing. And we saw it all.

We didn't have any luck playing Blackjack... but we still had a lot of fun, mostly at the buffet.
We were driving from one casino to the other and I accidentally forgot to turn on my headlights. We got pulled over and even though the cop and a loud, intimidating voice that really scared me.. he just told me to remember to turn my lights on.
On the way home, we drove out to the Salt Flat Speeway. I got my picture taken like a model.
The Salt Flats here in Utah are basically a huge desert, but instead of dirt and sand... it's salt.

My final winnings from the Rainbow Casino:

Big time Poker tournaments in Las Vegas... here I come. Just kidding.

my hair magically grew an impressive seven inches.

JUST KIDDING.
Or as the kids these day say,
"Jk."
Those are just extensions.
I got them from Sally's Beauty Store.
You just clip them in every day as you wish.
So if one day I want long mermaid hair, I clip them in.
If one day I want my normal shoulder length hair, I don't clip them in.
If I want to look like an idiot, I clip only a few extensions in.
Ta-da!

I am professional at getting really bored and restless with my hair. This explains my history of the famous blonde to brunette to blonde to brunette to [accidental] copper to brunette phases that start and end in tears. So if you get bored easy with your hair, I would recommend these clip in extensions.

Oh and here are two things that should be hanging on my fridge right now:

being sick in bed.

That is what I look like with my new hair color (intense auburn) standing in Chinatown, San Francisco. (2011)

I took down the Christmas tree and Christmas decorations today. (waaahhh) So now the apartment looks about as bleak and bare as January usually looks.

I'm still pretty sick with this annoying chest cold. Annoying doesn't really describe it, but I can't think of a better word.

Since I was sick this weekend and spent a buncha time in bed, it gave me a lot of thinking time. I thought about what noises giraffes make, what I would be like if I was a boy instead a of a girl, why I can't go to the airport and watch the plane after plane take off and fly over my head without getting arrested.

Etc.

But I also thought a lot about what I've been through. Isn't it amazing how time really does heal and fix everything? I was thinking back on what was the worst feeling I've ever felt in my life. I don't like to think about it much, (because duh) but when I do, it doesn't hurt as much as it once did. Even though during that awful time it seemed like it would never end, it eventually does. And you are a different person because of it. Wow, sorry for the cliche overload.

LA trip 2011

Remember how we went to L.A. California in September 2011? And remember how I took more pictures of L.A. than parents do of their child's first day of kindergarten? But I wasn't able to upload them since my laptop wouldn't let me? Well Steve is letting me use his computer to store all my photos now. So I finally can show my photos from L.A. I only chose my favorites.

(above) That is me so not looking like a model. I do look learpy though. Yay!

it's december.... the last month of 2011.... when did that happen.

2011:
You will forever be remembered as the year that I officially hate.
You will forever be remembered as the year that almost took away my optimism forever.
You will forever be remembered as the year that when something great happened to me, a bajillion of not great things happened right after.
You will forever be remembered as the year I had to get rid of my first car due to a transmission that was giving out even though I knew it didn't want to. :(
You will forever be remembered as the year that more awful things happened than good.
You will forever be remembered as the year that left me unimpressed.

And on a silly note...
You will forever be remembered as the year that came after 2010 and before 2012.
Ha.

bits of my weekend.

It's baaaaaaaaaaack.
'Bits of My Weekend' is finally back!
I wasn't able to do this weekly post for a while since my lame laptop refused to let me upload photos and after smacking my laptop several times, (the international action to take if an electronic betrays you and you don't know what to to do to make it work) I decided to give up. Laptop is still being lame, but I made the decision to just use the camera on my phone and just email the photos.

So now, you can relive my weekend with meeee.

This is me in my favorite beanie and trying a fancy setting on my phone.
That is our Christmas tree. See how there aren't any presents under it? Yeah, I should probably start Christmas shopping.
This is a cracker I wrote "I <3 U" on in spray cheese and then I remembered I didn't have anyone to give it to. But then I remembered if Reader was with me, I could give it to Reader.
The Christmas lights in my bedroom.
 Just some lights downtown.
 Pancakes for dinner!
 Cinnamon rolls.... just cinnamon rolls.
Not pictured from the weekend:  I went to my friends, Tiffany and Alana's, housewarming party and it was a blast, but in the most sad way, I did not take any photos. However, while I was there, I did hear the most epic snore. Let's just say, when I first heard it, I thought it was a chicken/rooster outside.

a to z of meee!

I got this fun survey from April from april, maybe. If you don't follow her blog, stop reading this, go follow it and then come back here and read this. I check her blog first thing every morning, and when I say first thing in the morning, that means even before I go to the bathroom!

F. Favorite color: Turquoise! And red!

G. Gold or Silver: Hmm. This one is tricky because up until about a few months ago I hated gold, I thought it was tacky, but now I have a lot of gold jewelry. But at the end of the day, you would probably see me wearing more silver.

Q. Quote from a movie: "Anyway, he uh... he gets down to the end of his life, and he looks back and decides that all those years he suffered, Those were the best years of his life, 'cause they made him who he was. All those years he was happy? You know, total waste. Didn't learn a thing. So, if you sleep until you're 18... Ah, think of the suffering you're gonna miss.." - Little Miss Sunshine.

my wall.

Out of nowhere, I decided to start hanging things on the wall by my door in my bedroom. Most of it is favorite pictures I've hung on to over the years and my new Instax photos. Some of it is just random things from concerts and stuff I've found and kept throughout my life. Also, on my light switch, I did indeed write 'Lumos' and 'Nox' But are you honestly surprised? I'll freaking love Harry Potter til the day I die.

it's baaaaack.

You probably didn't know this, but I don't know what kind of things you know, so I'm going to tell you anyway. I am a very dedicated college football fan. To be more specific, the University of Utah. Go Utes!

They had their first game last night and it felt wonderful to be back in the stadium after nine long months of waiting, watching the sport that brings millions of people together. We stand in the MUSS. The MUSS stands for 'Mighty Utah Student Section' Yup, that is 3-4 hours of solid standing. The MUSS is what makes the games FUN. But I have a complaint about the MUSS. Some.... obnoxious groups of people decide to come stand in the MUSS and not pay one teeny tiny ounce of  attention to the game, and that can be distracting. And annoying. And makes me want to behave violently towards them.

Utah opened up (and won!!!) their PAC 12 season against Montana State. Final score was 27-10. And I just want to let you know, I predicted the final score would be 28-7. Basically, I'm a pro when it comes to predicting not only the exact final score, but predicting a final score that was almost the final score. Hee. Hee.
