life's about changing.

On January 18th I went to Petco to get some hay and bedding for my BFF bunny Lou. While I was there I saw a sweet little bunny who was up for adoption. I played with it for a bit and decided to hurry and leave before I got too attached. Well, right when I left I wanted to go back and get him. So the next day I went back and adopted the sweet little bunny. He was a Holland Lop, 2 years old, and came from an abusive home (grrr). I was so happy I would be able to save and rescue this little buddy.

I brought him home and it was kind of heartbreaking to see how timid and frail he was. You could feel his spine (and see it too actually) and his poor fur on his ears were matted. But he was lucky to end up with such an animal lover like me because he would see nothing but love.

I named him Murph. And Murph was a sweetheart. It was cute to see him and Lou chase each other.

However, something went terribly wrong on Sunday night. I was at the U of U basketball game and when I got home I went over to say hi to Murph and Lou and I noticed Murph was laying on his side which he never does. I laid there by him to see if he was breathing. After a while I started to panic and I shook him and his cage a little bit and said "wake up, wake up" The more moitionless he remained the more I knew the thing I was hoping it wasn't, was.

Little, sweet Murph had died.

I know it wasn't my fault but I feel so sad I wasn't there to be with him. My heart is broken. I looked on the internet and I guess it's normal for a bunny who was abused and to go from home to home is likely to have a sudden death. I wish it wasn't that way :(

R.I.P. Murph. I love you and I'm sorry you had such a crappy life that you didn't deserve. I loved the upside heart on your face.

i'm fighting the law and i will win. hopefully.

I sneezed like 15 times before noon today. If supersticions prove to be true then I should be getting rich. Show me the money! My bank account will agree that I need it.

If I had to explain today in one word it would be... bumpy! No, wait... awful? No, how about rough? Nah, I will go with wild. But wild makes it sound like it was kind of fun... So I will go with tedious.

Today was tedious.

Here is why.

When I walked out to my car to go to work, I was greeted with a parking ticket. I was furious; mainly because I was perfectly parallel parked with no violation in sight. And dealing with the law in general makes me furious. Then before I over-reacted, I actually read the ticket. I got a ticket for having "expired license plates."  Or as the ticket likes to call it: "plate infraction"

The tags on my license plate say 3 --- meaning March --- meaning I have this whole entire month to renew them before they are considered "expired."

After I read this nonsense on this so called "ticket" the rest of my day pretty much consisted of a lot of phone calls to the courthouse and a lot of yelling. And lot of complaining.

(above) My ticket that caused me so so so much angst. I resisted chewing this ticket up and spitting out so I could take a picture of it.

Reader, I am not paying this ticket. I refuse. I mean, if they were indeed expired, I would gladly pay. But technially my vehicle is still in compliance with the law. I am scheduling a court hearing and disputing the crap out of this ticket. BELIEVE THAT!

IN OTHER NEWS: My lunch was pretty heavenly. I discovered a new soup called "Loaded Baked Potato Soup." Its alternative name is: Loaded Baked Delicious Awsome-tato Soup. It made me happy.

IN OTHER, BUT SAD, NEWS: A year ago today, my beloved 1993 white Ford Explorer that I had and loved (and wanted to be buried in) and owned for 5 years, died. R.I.P. But this day also marks the year mark for having my current car that I named, Proud Mary. She is finally feeling like my car. We are grand friends already.

R.I.P. 2011 (2011 - 2011)

Last night... the Christmas tree got tipped over.

Last night... I had to watch Justin Bieber perform Let it Be by the Beatles on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin Eve. I thought everyone knew that was something you just don't do...

Last night... I counted SIXTEEN cars that were pulled over on the freeway, probably for DUI's, when I soberly drove my friend Brian home.

Last night... I listened to Let's Twist Again by Chubby Checker and decided it's my new freedom song.

Last night... I said a lot of weird words and bizarre sentences right at midnight so I could be the first person of the year to say them!

Last night... was a blast and a half.

Cheers to 2012 and to this being my first post of 2012!

YAY!

34 years ago today, Elvis Presley died.
34 years later from the day he died,
there is a girl who is still very much a fan of him and knows every word to every one of his songs and owns all his of his movies and thinks he is handsome.
That girl is me.
R.I.P.

I'm not saying anyone should surprise me with an all expenses paid trip to Graceland, but that would be the ideal situation.

baby steps.

When I think back on all the few super-best-perfect weekends I've ever had, none of them were as good or even close to being as wonderful as the weekend I just experienced. I needed this weekend. I could try and explain in heavy detail why I loved this weekend the way I did, but Reader, you just wouldn't understand. You wouldn't understand in the same way that no matter how hard you try to paint the picture (metaphorically speaking) of your freaky dream from the previous night, no one will ever understand, even if you act it out.... with props....

This weekend was spent with my friends I've known since 1st grade: Scott, Mike and Tyler. Sadly, Mike is leaving us forever for bigger and better adventures and is moving to Chicago in August. I hope he changes his mind at the last minute and causes to be some dramatic running and crying in the airport. Who knows, that will probably happen even if he does follow through with his move. I can be dramatic.

I bought some sparklers tonight. I get excited when I think that tomorrow I will be using them and trying to spell my name with them and drawing neat things in the air.

I'm already feeling so much happier and lighter. I don't know if it was the weekend or maybe I'm not just as big of a wussy baby as I thought I was. I'm already learning a lot from this break-up.Go me.

Also, being the mega huge Jim Morrison fan I am, I wanted to take this time to pour one out for him. 40 years ago yesterday, he died. RIP Jim Morrison, RIP.

the day my food lost its taste.

It’s gone. It’s really gone. *sniff, sniff* I can’t believe it’s just… gone.

Reader, I was/ am attached to my first car, the Ford Exploder, ahem, I mean Explorer. It’s almost concerning. Her name was Dora... Dora the Explorer (ha!) My first born already has a lot of competition because I’m pretty sure I will love that Explorer more than my first born.

I’ll be honest, Dora had its hefty deal of issues. Most people would be worried and alarmed when she shut off on her own while at a stop light, but to me, it was the most adorable thing. It gave her character and personality. Dora could do no wrong!!

The buyer who made the best offer was on his way to pick up my child *COUGH* I mean Dora. I was sitting on the curb next to her to spend as much time with her as I could before she would be taken away from me forever. I took her for one last drive around the block, ‘twas the best and most sad drive of my life. I said my goodbyes to her and explained how much I would miss her and always love her. Thirty-five minutes later, my goodbye was finally finished and I sat there in silence with Dora.

The buyer called and said he was five minutes away. I had five minutes left with her. FIVE MINUTES. After I hung up, I started to cry and continued to cry until he arrived. Many of my neighbors walked by and looked at me as if I was an abandoned child with broken legs but I didn’t care.

I gave the new, lucky owner the title and key to Dora… and little did he know he basically took my heart with it too.

I have a message to the new owner: YOU WILL NEVER LOVE AND UNDERSTAND DORA LIKE I DID!!

So here I am today. Being overly dramatic. Feeling hollow, lifeless. My food has no taste. My music has no tune. My water has no splash. The world has no color!!

To see other posts where I have expressed my unusual love for Dora, go here, and here.

goodbye my lover, goodbye my friend.

“Well, think of it this way, if you let me, you won’t have to buy me a coffin when I die.”

“No.”

“Please! Since they don’t make car cemeteries??”

“No.”

What am I begging Steve for in the above dialog, Reader? Great question! Well, my first car officially died yesterday *don’t start crying again Kaleena, don’t cry!* and he asked what we were going to do with the poor thing. And since I’ve been alarming attached to it since I was 17, I asked to keep it for the rest of my life and then to be buried in it when I die. It’s only right. Even though the transmission betrayed me, I’m not even close to becoming ready to part ways.

How could I be ready to just “dump” it? This car has seen me, laugh, cry, yell, give people dirty looks, flip fellow drivers off, sing, and occasionally do all at the same time.

The bad news was delivered to my hopeful spirit at the Jiffy Lube. Curse that Jiffy Lube. They referred me to a Tranny shop (that tranny means transmission shop, not transvestite).

Transmission dude: Your car just won’t go into reverse?
Me: Right, everything else is running great.
TD: Sounds like an easy fix.
Me: That’s excellent news!
TD: What kind of car is it?
Me: 93’ Ford Explorer
TD: HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! I wouldn’t bother bringing it in. HA HA HA
Me: *sniff sniff*
TD: Are you crying miss? I didn’t mea…
Me: … *hangs up*

That would be the last time a mechanic laughed at my car. It would also (hopefully) be the last time a mechanic made me cry.

Steve didn’t let me mope and wallow for long. Minutes after he found out the tragic news, we were already in his car driving to a car dealership.  If he would’ve let me wallow, it would be a long 4 days/nights of waking up the neighbors in the middle of the night of my loud sobbing and blasting to ‘My Heart Will Go On’ By Celine Dion.

Our car salesman looked like a Cadbury egg with hair. He smelled like a car salesman. Everything about him was a car salesman. When we walked into the dealership, I felt like it was a carnival! ABBA was on the radio, FREE popcorn and FREE Coke Products!!! I was so thrilled by this… that numerous bags of popcorn later and 3 drinks later, I forgot why we were there…

Well 2hours of Steve beating down the price (what a handsome scholar he is) we finally got a deal on a car that I don’t want to share with you yet in respect and honor of my Explorer. R.I.P.

R.I.P. Explorer, R.I.P.
