it's a special-unique day...

Do you know what today is? Well, today is......

................

11-12-2013

I love cool number dates like this. So tonight, Alysha and I are going to celebrate at 9:10. Celebrating at 9:10 probably means getting excited when the clock turns 9:10 while our other roommates judge us. But what other way can you celebrate this day?

On Sunday, we played broom ball. Have you ever played? Well stop reading this and go play right now! But if you haven't played, before you leave to play and have the time of your life, let me explain how to play. It's basically hockey except you don't wear skates, you just wear tennis shoes and you play on the ice. It was an intimidating concept because I just pictured myself slipping and flailing on the ice and getting the little rubber ball whacked in my face but it felt like we were playing on cement and I left without getting hit or hurt.
You have to master a technique on how to run fast on the ice. Unfortunately, the technique that worked for me was to waddle somewhat low to the ground. Don't give me that look. It got me around pretty quick.

favorite thing.

I love when all the trees outside have lights on them.
Favorite thing.
I took this last night when I was walking to my car.
And so what if I blocked the path of a group of grumpy old people who all glared at me in unison with a look of "kids these days"?
I HAD to get this picture and it only took me like 4 seconds.
If I wasn't in such a good mood, I would've thrown some sass back.
But it's the holidays and I'm not that mean to old people.

And look at those street lights adding in their own little "twinkle" effects.
It really makes this low quality cell phone picture shine, doesn't it?

what i'm thankful for: 2012.

Just so you know I am 100% thankful for these things, even though some of them are cheesy and obvious.

Here we go.

Oh and these aren't in order.

1. that I'm still alive
2. my health, my car, my job
3. technology, books, food, music
4. my family, sisters, nephews and nieces, friends, Steve
5. my happy and healthy bunny
6. my bed, a warm house, the internet
7. things that are funny
8. slipper socks
9. cheese fries, buffalo wings, crab, cereal, burgers, breakfast
10. Excederin Migraine (#1 might not have happened if it weren't for this)
11. football, individuality, people watching
12. hugs
13. toilet paper, tooth brushes, showers
14. clean, running water
15. my legs, vision, and hearing
16. my emotions
17. my ability to see the good in people despite of what I know of them (this sucks sometimes)

greeeen!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

If you aren't wearing green... consider yourself pinched.

If you are wearing green... consider yourself high-fived.

I'm celebrating this holiday by eating ramen and watching some great Saturday night TV. Cause I'm hip like that.

i want you, i need you, i love you.

Happy Valentines Day!
Hi Reader.
Did you come here looking for some love?
Well here is a hug and a pat on the head.

I'm really impartial to Valentines Day.
I could be single, happily married, angrily married, divorced, widowed, in a wheel chair, dating, dead, on life support, whatever.
And I would still have the same opinions on Valentines Day.
You would think I would be crazy for this day since I'm such a hopeless romantic,
but I think little anniversaries and surprises are better.

Hugs & tickles.
Bye.

blue christmas.

Just so you know,
it was a blue Christmas without you.

But Merry Christmas anyway!

bits of my weekend.

It's baaaaaaaaaaack.
'Bits of My Weekend' is finally back!
I wasn't able to do this weekly post for a while since my lame laptop refused to let me upload photos and after smacking my laptop several times, (the international action to take if an electronic betrays you and you don't know what to to do to make it work) I decided to give up. Laptop is still being lame, but I made the decision to just use the camera on my phone and just email the photos.

So now, you can relive my weekend with meeee.

This is me in my favorite beanie and trying a fancy setting on my phone.
That is our Christmas tree. See how there aren't any presents under it? Yeah, I should probably start Christmas shopping.
This is a cracker I wrote "I <3 U" on in spray cheese and then I remembered I didn't have anyone to give it to. But then I remembered if Reader was with me, I could give it to Reader.
The Christmas lights in my bedroom.
 Just some lights downtown.
 Pancakes for dinner!
 Cinnamon rolls.... just cinnamon rolls.
Not pictured from the weekend:  I went to my friends, Tiffany and Alana's, housewarming party and it was a blast, but in the most sad way, I did not take any photos. However, while I was there, I did hear the most epic snore. Let's just say, when I first heard it, I thought it was a chicken/rooster outside.

so this is christmas.

I am sitting at work drinking a Red Bull I got at the store (2 for 6 bucks, that's something you take advantage of no matter what it is) and I remembered I have a picture of my Christmas tree to show.

The tree that I haven't named yet was put up on Sunday night while the Simpons was on the TV in the background.
It only took one hour to turn the living room into a holiday-less living room into a... living room with a Christmas tree. Ha ha
I think it looks TREE-rific.
TREE-mendous.
I really love decorating trees. So if you need some help or just want a buddy while you decorate yours, I am your gal.

thanksgiving break has officially ended.

If I could insert into this post to let you know how devastated I am to be back at work and no longer enjoying the long holiday weekend, I would insert it here. Thanksgiving break officially ended when my alarm was making that known-around-the-world alarm clock sound at 6:45am. But all long Thanksgiving breaks must come to an end I suppose.

This holiday weekend, I was all mixed up on my days, it was madness. On Wednesday I thought it was Friday. On Thursday I thought it was Saturday. On Friday I thought it was Thursday. On Saturday I thought it was Friday again. And on Sunday I knew it was Sunday, but I was hoping it was Saturday still.

I think everyone who knows me, knows I am thankful for and appreciate the little things, and I express that daily... hourly sometimes, depending on how many emotions I wake up with that day. But here is a list of things I am always thankful for. I'm not sure if this list is going to be long or short, so here it goes...

1. My job. Through my endless complaining, there is a great deal of gratitude for this job.
2. My health.
3. My family, friends, parents, dogs, people in my life.
4. My home.
5. My bed.
6. My shower, toothbrush, toilet paper. People around me are thankful for those too.
7. Music.
8. Books.
9. My hearing and my vision.
10. My ability to be constantly feeling. Even the sadness sometimes, I am thankful for that.
11. Dogs. Dogs. Dogs.
12. Food.
13. The internet.
14. Laughing & sense of humor.
15. Favors.
16. My car.
17. My emotions.
18. My legs.
19. Heaters, blankets, socks, mittens, coats.
20. Grocery stores.
21. My patience.
22. My optimisim.
23. Sugar and candy.
24. Hugs.
25. To still be alive.
26. Cameras and photos.
27. Movies.
28. Nice people.
29. My hair and teeth.
30. My blog/other blogs/blogging people/blogging community.

thanksgiving break has officially started.

As of right now, I am officially on my Thanksgiving break... from work. I don't have to work until Monday. That is FOUR whole days away from a place I just waste eight hours of my life each day.

Soooo right now:

-I am happy I got to leave work at 4pm instead of 5:30pm.
-I am hoping it was twenty minutes into the future so the cinnamon rolls I have in the oven would be done and I could eat the leftover frosting!
-Sitting on the couch in my pajama pants watching my #2 favorite movie of all time..... Garden State.
-And after this, I will be dying my hair. This time: Deep Auburn. I'M TYPING IN ALL CAPS SO YOU SHOULD KNOW THIS IS CODE FOR I AM EXCITED!

(above image from Garden State)

I wish every week was like Thanksgiving break.

halloween gone wrong.

For Halloween this year, I decided to be Leela from Futurama:

The biggest reason is because Futurama is one of my favorite cartoons and it would be a super easy costume to put together. Oh and I have a huge crush on Fry. I mean look at him, he's adorable:

Anyway, I was dressed up as Leela last night and I sadly don't have any photo evidence that I dressed up as her. I was freakin' excited for this costume but nobody knew who I was... probably cause I had two eyes instead of just one eye like Leela has. Everyone thought I was Ramona Flowers from Scott Pilgram vs The World. Since I have a huge crush on Fry, part of me was hoping some guy out there in the big world was going to dress up as Fry and we would accidentally bump into each other and then it would be a match made in heaven. How cute would that story be? Maybe next year.

red + white + blue

Happy 4th of July!
Tonight, I am going to Sugarhouse Park with Mike, Scott and Brian to watch an hour show of fireworks.
It's a huge and popular thing here in Salt Lake.
And since I bought those sparklers last night, there might a sparkler party in the back ally behind my apartment.

Also...

Question: Did I just eat two snack pack puddings in a row?
Answer: Hell yes I did.

bits of my weekend.

I truly did have an enjoyable weekend. Don't let these bland/bleak photos tell you otherwise.

We went to Fudruckers (only the best burger place ever) and they have a little (and dirty but I chose to ignore that part) arcade section. Well, I don't know if it was because I ate one too many potato wedges or that I had two cups too many of fruit punch but something made me go play the arcade games. My game of choice? Guitar Hero. I don't think that counts as an arcade game but they had it there anyways.

Reader, I was a Guitar Hero pro in high school. I could easily play any song on EXPERT. Well, I suppose that skill of mine died because I was struggling to say the least. Anyways, it was fun. Even if I was the oldest person in the arcade by 12 years.

 That fish is judging you.
Oo la la! Can you see Elvis in the background?
Wise words from a Jones Soda cap. And yeah.

photo of the day #104

Dad forgot to get the family the swimming pool for Christmas they had been begging for all year. So, the Mom and three daughters "forgot" to get him a matching pair of jammies for their annual Christmas photo.

a day of hearts, hugs and kisses.

Happy Valentines Day!

Steve,
Just so you know, I am yours to keep.

xoxo

 Happy Valentines Day too, Reader.

heart attack.

What do you do when you want to make your own, cheap, lazy versions of Valentine decorations? Why, you go to the craft store, pick out the cutest red, pink and white patterned papers, and cut hearts out of them. Then, make them into a banner/dangly thingy to put around your home! Well, that's what I do at least. Great method so far.

Oh, and if you have just one left over, hang it somewhere that needs a little love.

Monday, January 17, 2011

it's a monday afternoon...

...and I am not at work! But I have a tip for you, Reader.

Remember when you were little and you would be at a sleepover with all your friends and you would stay up late? Yeah, yeah, yeah, those times were a lot of fun. But remember when the morning came and you would wake up HOURS before everyone else? And you would just lay there waiting for someone else to wake up? And you would start to give deathly glares at the girl next to you for being able to sleep in so well? Well I still do that. I wake up so  much earlier than Steve. But I've come up with a solution. I jump on the bed and hurry and lay back down and when he rolls over and looks at me i'm like,

"oh good! you're finally awake. Huh? No... I wasn't just jumping on the bed...."

You should take the time to write down that tip, it works every time.

Oh, and thank you Martin Luther King for giving me this day off of work.

raise the roof!

uh-huh! Raise it! Raise it!

It's a four day weekend.

And I love four day weekends.

That's the way! Uh-huh, uh-huh I like it! Uh-huh, uh-huh.
.
Cheers.

this is what my new year's eve looked like...

You can be jealous. While everyone else was out in the freezing cold at some extravagant party, we had some friends over and ate junk food. Well.. it was mostly me eating the junk food.

11:59pm
Me:  3....2....1...
Everyone: HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Me: *turns to Steve next to me on the couch for a New Years kiss...*
Steve: *insert Chewbaca noise here*
