things that suck.

VACUUMS MOSTLY.

This post is dedicated to how fun vacuuming is.

I'm not being sarcastic.

We got a new vacuum and it's been so fun to vacuum with such power. I love to vacuum. It's so clean up in here now. Not one piece of scrap, dust, food, crumb, etc is on the carpet.

I will seriously come and vacuum for you. (if you live in my area, ha).

Does this mean I'm finally an adult if I'm excited over a new vacuum?

i'm just gonna have to accept it.

Here are some things I am just going to have to accept never happening.

1. Giving up soda FOR GOOD. I just can't. I'm weak.
2. Getting to work on time. I will always be five minutes late. Even when I wake up thirty minutes early. ???
3. Being in bed before midnight. Ha.
4. Remembering what I was going to say the first time I try and say it.

craving food i've never even had.

So here is the thing. I've never in my life have eaten the famous food "eggs benedict". In fact, I didn't even know what it was exactly til like... a year ago. Bottom line is I have never tried eggs benedict or even been in the presence of someone who was consuming one.

For some reason I have been craving eggs benedict like cray for like, the last two weeks. Besides spending the last two weeks craving eggs benedict, I have also spent these last two weeks googling images of eggs benedict. Haha oh yes. I honestly googled is two times today just at work. IT LOOKS SO GOOD.

But what confuses me is, how can I crave something so badly that I have never eaten? Well I guess what I'm really craving is what I imagine it to taste like. And what I'm imagining... mmm. It could save lives I tell you. I was the same way with sushi before I tried it. I craved sushi on the daily before I actually tried it....and I still crave it on the daily.

My goal is to try eggs benedict sometime soon. Hopefully within the week. I can't wait.

things i know.

Thing 1. If you don't make snacks to eat while you are making dinner then all that means is that is one thing you don't have in common with me and you are probably in better shape than me. So there you go. I like to call it my pre-dinner. Sometimes I'm just too hungry to wait for my dinner to cook! So that's when I started doing pre-dinner.

Thing 2. If you keep changing lanes in bumper-to bumper traffic, it will not get you to your destination any faster. I watch idiots do this every day on my commute to and from work. They are the ones who slow the flow. And also cause my anxiety while driving. Reader, if you happen to see me throwing things out my car window, you'll know this is why.

Thing 3. When you want time to crawl, it will do the complete opposite. When you want the time to be super speedy fast, it will go slower than a turtle hiking up a caramel hill.

Thing 4. Sometimes, nothing can satisfy your belly like some good old fashioned toast.

Thing 5: I think the #1 cause of making people join anger management these days is the internet. Not the content of the internet, but comment sections like on Youtube, Facebook, Blogs, etc. My newest form of entertainment is to just read comment sections of things and it causes some healthy laughter. People are so angry these days.

awesome and not awesome.

Awesome:
1. Monday off of work. MLK, you the man.
2. Freshly painted nails.
3. Waking up to lots and lots of snow.
4. Grape soda.
5. Memes. If you don't know what a meme is, go here: quickmeme.com
6. Babies.
7. Eating cooking dough.
8. These shoes I really want!
I know that looks like a baby shoe, but it's not.

Not awesome:
1. When my favorite long gold necklaces gets snagged and broken.
2. The ghost that I think is living in the apartment, ruining my sleep one night at a time.

being sick in bed.

That is what I look like with my new hair color (intense auburn) standing in Chinatown, San Francisco. (2011)

I took down the Christmas tree and Christmas decorations today. (waaahhh) So now the apartment looks about as bleak and bare as January usually looks.

I'm still pretty sick with this annoying chest cold. Annoying doesn't really describe it, but I can't think of a better word.

Since I was sick this weekend and spent a buncha time in bed, it gave me a lot of thinking time. I thought about what noises giraffes make, what I would be like if I was a boy instead a of a girl, why I can't go to the airport and watch the plane after plane take off and fly over my head without getting arrested.

Etc.

But I also thought a lot about what I've been through. Isn't it amazing how time really does heal and fix everything? I was thinking back on what was the worst feeling I've ever felt in my life. I don't like to think about it much, (because duh) but when I do, it doesn't hurt as much as it once did. Even though during that awful time it seemed like it would never end, it eventually does. And you are a different person because of it. Wow, sorry for the cliche overload.

i'm still a big kid now.

I feel like an adult when...

-When I get paid, I pay all my bills and grocery before I go browse Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.

-When I do the dishes right when I'm done using them, instead of letting them pile up.

-When I wake up the first time my alarm clock goes off so I can get to work early... instead of hitting snooze 7 times to get a few extra minutes of sleep.

-When I find myself looking at the recipes in magazines instead of ways to get my hair to do a woo-hoo looking thing.

These aren't big things, but they are still baby steps.

thanksgiving break has officially ended.

If I could insert into this post to let you know how devastated I am to be back at work and no longer enjoying the long holiday weekend, I would insert it here. Thanksgiving break officially ended when my alarm was making that known-around-the-world alarm clock sound at 6:45am. But all long Thanksgiving breaks must come to an end I suppose.

This holiday weekend, I was all mixed up on my days, it was madness. On Wednesday I thought it was Friday. On Thursday I thought it was Saturday. On Friday I thought it was Thursday. On Saturday I thought it was Friday again. And on Sunday I knew it was Sunday, but I was hoping it was Saturday still.

I think everyone who knows me, knows I am thankful for and appreciate the little things, and I express that daily... hourly sometimes, depending on how many emotions I wake up with that day. But here is a list of things I am always thankful for. I'm not sure if this list is going to be long or short, so here it goes...

1. My job. Through my endless complaining, there is a great deal of gratitude for this job.
2. My health.
3. My family, friends, parents, dogs, people in my life.
4. My home.
5. My bed.
6. My shower, toothbrush, toilet paper. People around me are thankful for those too.
7. Music.
8. Books.
9. My hearing and my vision.
10. My ability to be constantly feeling. Even the sadness sometimes, I am thankful for that.
11. Dogs. Dogs. Dogs.
12. Food.
13. The internet.
14. Laughing & sense of humor.
15. Favors.
16. My car.
17. My emotions.
18. My legs.
19. Heaters, blankets, socks, mittens, coats.
20. Grocery stores.
21. My patience.
22. My optimisim.
23. Sugar and candy.
24. Hugs.
25. To still be alive.
26. Cameras and photos.
27. Movies.
28. Nice people.
29. My hair and teeth.
30. My blog/other blogs/blogging people/blogging community.

three solid truths.

There a three solid truths in life that I am confidant in knowing they are true:

1. You will notice a certain object laying around your house every single day, but when the time comes that you actually need the object, you can't remember where you saw it.
2. I am always a very tired girl when I'm a work. I can only concentrate the image of me in a ball in my bed; but when I finally get home in my bed, the sleepiness has been replaced with mass amounts of energy that I don't know where to direct it to.
3. Whenever I want time to crawl, it goes by too quickly. Whenever I want time to go by quickly, it will go slower than tar going up Mount Everest.

Today, I was so busy at work, I e-mailed Shandey (my sister) to bring me a Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger from Wendy's after she gets off work. She kindly accepted my request. Not only did she come with Jr. Bacon Cheeseburgers, but she also surprised me with a mini chocolate frosty. This was great news because my belly had the rumblies that only Wendy's could satisfy.

And now, before I go to waste more time on the Internet... I leave you with this thirteen second video that I highly encourage you to watch. It's only thirteen seconds. It does not disappoint.

2 things.

All above photos by me.
1. Today when I arrived at work, a nice, what appeared to be young, handsome, gentleman was standing next to the door. He was waiting for me to use my magical badge to open the door because he lost his. This is when the small talk began. He asked how things were and I said good. I asked him how stuff was and he said fine. Somewhere in between all this, I 100% stumbled up the stairs. Naturally, I was humiliated. But do you know what made it more humiliating? He didn't acknowledge it. He just kept talking. Which now that I type this out, that was really thoughtful of him, but the fact that he didn't laugh or make fun of me, embarrassed me more. Weird of me, I know.

2. I've been really craving a Jamba Juice all week. Yes, all two days of this week. I also watched/listened to Forrest Gump on my iPod while working today. Talk about multitasking! I was able to listen/watch the movie, work, pretend to work and cry at the sad parts all at the same time. I'm thinking about putting that on my resume....

things thing and more things.

I am grateful for the word: thing. However, I would probably have a larger and more impressive vocabulary if it weren't for the word thing, but thing always seems to get the job done when I need to talk about.... things.

Right now, I have some funeral potatoes cooking in the oven. That's right. It is my first attempt at making them and the process went surprisingly... safe. Nothing in the kitchen broke and I didn't need any bandaids when I was done cooking. This is a huge step because whenever I cook, it takes a day or two of mentally and emotionally preparing myself. Just standing in the kitchen makes me feel like I have zero skills.

Right now (part II) I have hair dye on hair, what I also like to call the roof of my head. If everything goes by plan, my hair will be a dark, brownish burgundy-ish when I rinse it out.

Lately when I take naps after work, I wake up thinking it's the next morning. When this happens, it's worse than death. So I lay there, staring at my clock with panic and alert in my eyes and then shoot up out of my bed faster than a dog chasing... whatever dogs chase. I run out like a crazy person to the living room and then realize, it's only been 10 minutes since I laid down to nap. It's a very dramatic and berserk time.

blue valentine.

I just bought this move for 4 bucks.

Wednesday, July 27, 2011

please and thank you.

Right now I really want:

1. A crab feast with lemon butter to dip it in.
2. Some  breakfast for dinner. More specific: pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, and Sunny D.
3. That dog that has been howling and barking for the last 50 minutes to STOP.
4. To win the lottery.
5. To own every camera ever made with endless FREE film supply.
6. For a certain to someone to enjoy and appreciate the little things.
7. This t-shirt from Amazon.com
8. A giant bear hug.
9. A crab feast with lemon butter to dip it in. I know I already put that on this list, but you should know that's how much I really want some crab.
10. My landlord to give me free rent.
11. To win anything.
12. To not be afraid of silly things. Like the dark and odd numbers.

deep conditioning and deep thoughts.

As I sit and type this, my hair is smothered in my deep, leave-in conditioner to make my hair healthy and pretty looking. Like straight-out-of-a-shampoo-commercial pretty.

There are endless things that I wonder about and worry about.
Because I am a worrier, thanks to my Mother.

Sometimes I think because since I am only twenty-one years old I am still learning and finding stuff out. But at work today, I was talking to one of my friends and we found out that we have some similar worries and thoughts and questions. He is twenty-eight... eight years older and he still doesn't have the answers. And then I had the thought, maybe my age has nothing to do with my questions and worries. Maybe it's just that nobody ever finds out the answers to their questions or gets to ease their worries

Let the anxiety begin....

things that bother me more than they should... PART III

1. When you are looking for a video on Youtube and you simply can't find it... But you can find a million of videos of pointless pictures put together in a sad excuse for a montage with the title of the video you are looking for. SERIOUSLY! I think to myself, wow, these people need to find something better to do with their time. But here I am watching it. Ha ha shut up! I know it's really me who needs to find something better to do with my time.

2. When you are eating something and somebody comes up in your face and basically involuntary tells you how bad and un-healthy the thing is your eating and starts listing facts about the item you are eating. I DON'T CARE! JUST LET ME EAT MY SUGARY DONUT!

3. People with closed minds with very, very OPEN mouths. Bah.

4. People who forget that everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

So yeah. Just so you know.

the only constant in life is change.

I read an article the other day where it said people develop their personalities the most during 19-24 years old. Also, during that time is when you are consistently changing. I find this to be very true. And I am going to go off topic right now and say that my H key is not working, I have to slam and I mean SLAM it down to work and I'm becoming very frustrated!!! It's me versus the H key over here. GARR! Stop giving me that look, Reader. I thought you would understand! Anyways, so yeah. I found that article to be very true. I am twenty-one right now and when I think back to last year at this time, I feel like a complete different girl. I've changed in so many ways just in a year and it makes me kind of excited to see where I will be next year, in two years, etc.

So far, a few things I've learned:
  • I care more about the little things, not the big things.
  • I attach myself to basically e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g.
  • I'm insanely sensitive and that is one thing I always will be. This used to bother me, but I'm actually starting to accept it.
  • I'm a worrier. Not a warrior. I wanted to make that clear because when I typed worrier it looked really similar to warrior.
  • I need to know that I am needed by someone more than me needing to know that I am loved by someone. Does that make sense?
  • I can drag my feet before I can be open with somebody and be myself.
  • I would rather have a few really good, close friends than a large amount of acquaintances.
  • I am painfully socially awkward. It's kind of entertaining actually. This results in many embarrassing stories.
  • I prefer nights in with a few friends than wild and crazy nights out. BUT I do like to go out too. (wow, I am sounding really boring ha ha)
I wanted to write those, so in a year (or maybe next month even) I can come back and see what is changed and what is the same.

if i'm free, it's because i'm always running.

I apologize. I haven't had anything worth sharing lately except for little bits of nothing that nobody would care to read even if those little bits of nothing and Rebecca Black's  Friday.were the only two things left in the world to read.

So, let me arrive to the point of the post. There isn't one. Instead of continuing to neglect this blog, I will just spew some of my thoughts on here.

Sixteen years later and I still have a *cough* large crush on Eric from The Little Mermaid. You can keep giving me that look Reader... but we all know that you've had a crush on a cartoon before too! I mean, look how much he loves his dog, Max. I know he was hypnotized/seduced by Ariel's voice via Ursula in another body, but he was helpless and that can happen to anybody. Did it scare anybody else when Ursula basically erupts from that normal looking decoy body at their wedding and turns back into the half fat lady-half octopus that she is? Oh and I totally had a dinglehopper when I was little. Anyways, yeah, I still love Eric. And I love whoever created this Eric loving mural:
What do you do when you are stuck at work with nothing to do and can no longer pretend to be busy? Well, besides being unexpectedly overjoyed and spreading the news that the new vending machine is carrying the orange drink Sunkist (!!!), you make play lists on your iPod. That's what you do. I think I made roughly four today and all four of those were featuring this song:

This song is kind of strange to me. I can see my having it played at my wedding if I ever get married and I can also see it probably being played at my funeral (or any funeral for that matter) if my friends and family love me enough to plan a funeral for me after I die.

Well I guess that was only two thoughts, but I really have to go dry my hair before it looks more like a blonde mop.

may i never sleep restless again.

WE GOT A NEW BED!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, yes.

We got a new bed!!

I'm just so happy and crazy I had to say it twice.

We upgraded from a full size to a KING. Let me tell you, I feel like a king on the King bed. Maybe that's why they named it a king... Hmm. Anyways, This means a few things will never happen again!

I will never wake up buried underneath Steve.
I will never wake up clinging onto the side of the bed like a rock climber to a mountain who is about to fall.
I will never wake up in the morning wondering if someone beat my back with a broom thinking it was a rug that needed the dust beat out of it.
I will never lay in the side of the bed and gradually roll into the center (not on purpose).

The bed that has been hosting our place of sleep for the last two years has been Steve's since he was in 5th grade. Pfft. Yeah. Can I kindly remind you he is no a senior in college??? If you examine hard enough at the bare mattress you can still see a little 5th grade Steve body shape embedded into the mattress. That's probably #1 on my list of things I don't want embedded in my mattress.

Well I'm off now to go get acquainted with the King in our bedroom.

bits of my weekend.

I loved this weekend because:
1. I found some uber (do people still say uber?) cute frames to put some postcards of Jim Morrison and Jimi Hendrix that I had no clue what to do with besides look at them and love them... and look at them some more.
2. I got kind of creative in the bathroom on Saturday night when I was home alone. Please look at those pictures of me with the mirrors and admire how trippy (and so Myspace) they are. Sometimes I confuse creativity with boredom.
3.I witnessed Steve referee his very first Varsity basketball game. Be excited, this is huge. I also witnessed probably the most hilarious high school mascot ever.
4. I watched my favorite movie, Forrest Gump. And that's all I have to say about that.
I didn't love this weekend because:
1. Steve and only Steve can manage to knock a pair of glasses into the toilet by simply opening a window.
2. I tried and failed, again, at attempting to clean out one of my many jewelry boxes/piles/areas. Every girl has her  accessory or  thing when it comes to shopping. Mine is definitely earrings. Oh yeah. And scarves of course.

See those glasses above? Yeah, those are the ones Steve knocked in the toilet. I'm impressed to be honest.

moats & boats & waterfalls, ally ways and payphone calls.

The man on TV is telling me that he will take care of the government cause I've already got too much to take care of. The man also looks like he is en route to a costume part representing Indiana Jones.

Reader, once upon a time before Kaleena had Just Add Kaleena, I did some pretty stupendous things. Yeah, THINGS.

Things like a seven day long road trip to San Francisco! They aren't lying when they say you'll leave your heart there. My heart is somewhere between the Golden Gate Bridge and the Fisherman's Wharf.... or maybe even Alcatraz. Nope, definitely China Town. AaaaAAhh!

Things like riding a bus for a few days to San Diego and Oregon! There is a lot of time to plot successful kidnappings on 17+ hour bus ride. Or coming up with future band names like, "Kaleena's Tribe & More"

Things like painting! Well, meh. It wasn't exactly, painting. But paints and paint brushes and me crouching like a boulder for countless hours were involved.

Things like sleeping in my car! You know, it really was as a slipshod idea as it sounds. Sleeping in a car? If the shortage of padding didn't stop my firstly, then the ice sheets I defied in a battle on my windows before I slept in there should have.

I found some old photos of San Fran and San Diego... I'll just post my faveys though.

Now San Diego...
