brains, lol.

What my brain and memory choose to decides is beyond me. My brain won't remember who I told a story to so I will most likely tell that person the story two more times but my brain will remember a 15 digit alphanumeric password I see like once.
The thing with alphanumeric passwords or alphanumeric anything is don't.

I read this quote the other day that said "when you think of a memory, you aren't remembering that memory - you are thinking of the last time you thought of that memory."

What.

I get it kinda, but what?

A few very boring things that I am excited for!

1. I'm getting my hair done on April 4th at 6:00pm. That means a Friday night spent in a chair in a salon with tinfoil while I can feel my scalp burning - which is sign that you are becoming pretty. Right now my hair is 50/50. 50% dark blonde and 50% light blonde. Maybe I can dye the ends pink so my hair would like a Neapolitan ice cream tub. Jk.

I guess that's all. Do you think it's possible bunnies can get scared of ghosts or by their bunny imaginations? My bunny seemed really scared a few nights ago... he kept thumping which is a bunny's way of saying "OMG WTF" so I went over to comfort him. But in the back of my paranoid and insane brain, I think he saw something that freaked him. In reality, he was probably just grumpy.

there are very few feelings........... part 1

That are better than the following:

1. When the lights go down at a concert right before the band goes on stage. This ALWAYS gives me chills and I can never contain myself. Lots of  tiny jumping (basically bouncing my knees) and clapping. It's kind of an unreal experience. People you are continuously listening to and that have changed your life are suddenly just right in front of you. They are real people. Everyone takes something different from a live show, and I feel lucky that I feel more during (and after) a live show than just the sound of the concert.

2. Getting your regrowth filled in. I'm naturally dirty blonde and since I get my hair dyed with the lightest blonde, my natural blonde looks very dark in contrast. So, the second my hair starts growing, it looks like I have a huge black part and it makes me cringe. I love watching my hair lady put on the blonde color over the regrowth and coming out with all blonde hair again. Ahhhh.

3. Remembering you have leftover food from take-out the night before when you are driving home and you are freaking starving and sad because you think you have nothing to eat. Self explanatory.

4. When a 12-pack of Mountain Dew is only $4 at Target.

5. Checking your bank account and there is more money in there than you were anticipating. So let's celebrate by spending it! Jk.

same hair, new style.

I am as fickle as they come. Who 'they' is, I don't know but I am one of them I guess. I change my mind and feelings on everything so much that sometimes I just get impulsive.

Basically, my hair gets to experience my fickleness the most. That's why I go from bangs to no bangs, dark to blonde, from blonde to dark... even though every time I go back to blonde after dark, I swear it will be my last time. LOL at me ever saying anything is for the last time.

My recent act of impulsion was decided I wanted to get a 'long bob' haircut. Or a 'long a-line' The idea popped into my head around noon last Monday and by 5:45 that night, I had the haircut.

Here is what I asked for:

And this is what I got:

You can't tell but it's a bit shorter in the back. And basically I love it. It doesn't take that long to dry and style and I can wear it in a tiny ponytail. Also, do you know what is awkward? One woman fedora photo-shoots in your room while your bunny watches you.

breaking down.

I never thought I would be laying here on my bed
with neon copper penny hair.

But I am.

But that's what happens when you dye your hair dark dark dark red for 1+ year and then listen to someone's advice on using a permanent hair color remover from Walgreens.

I have an appointment with Candace in the morning to take me all the way back to blonde.

...

I felt nothing.
I didn't want to stay up late
and
I didn't want to go to bed.

always have luck when luck isn't that needed.

Last night I dyed Shandey's hair. And I really wish dying my own hair was as easy as dying someone elses hair. When I was little, I always wished I could take my head, do my own hair, and then put it back on. I still wish this.  It's so much easier when you have access to all sides of your head and not having to look in the mirror.

Anyway.

After I was done doing her hair, my niece rode with me to the gas station to get some gas. While it was filling up, I was giving her a once in a lifetime game of peek-a-boo. Lots of jumping and crawling around the car just to suprise her with the peek-a-boo. She loved it. As we were driving home, I couldn't find my phone.

Oh well... I always lose my phone...

OH NO! I left it on the roof  of the car last!!

When we finally stop at Shandey's, I get out to see my phone is just safely sitting on top of my car.

How lucky is that?

my life is a little bit ruined.

The weekend was great and now it is over! Just wanted to get that obvious statement out of the way.

So... why my life is a tiny bit ruined. My friend e-mailed me at work today and asked if I knew what a skinwalker was. Bless. What a frightening thing it is. Like, TERRIFYING. I'm no expert on the skinwalkers, but from what I read on the internet it is really disturbing and scary and I hope I continue to live my life without encountering a skinwalker. I'm not going to go into the details here... mostly because I get scared easy and I don't want to scare myself by writing about it, so If you want to know more, please just Google 'skinwalkers in Utah'. Apparently they are huge on a few ranches in Utah.

I'm really happy these days and it's all because of little bunny Lou. Whoever said money doesn't buy happiness obviously has never used money to buy a bunny.

We watched the movie Taken last night. Made me super excited for the sequel. If you didn't know there was going to be a sequel, well now you know.

I made the decision to go from medium auburn hair to intense auburn hair. Here it is:

bits of my weekend.

(above) This is my new hair color. This is also the second box I had to buy since the first ran out. This is also the color that stained my hands and scalp bright red. My hair is now the color of that girl's on the box. I like it. (R1 Dark Intense Auburn - Garnier)
(above) OMG. What your precious little eyes are looking at Reader is the new grocery store that is located less than three minutes from our apartment. It's called Harmons. And it's bitchin'. It is two stories and you have view like this. Not only does it have aisles and aisles of cheap groceries, but it has a bakery, a deli, a floral area, a buffet, a sushi bar, a coffee place, little shops and sitting areas above the aisles. This is pretty close to being heaven for me. I keep trying to come up with a pun involving "glorious" and "grocery" but I am coming up with nothing. Let me know if you are more successful.
Again. My heaven.
That is a cutie nectarine orange. I had close to a million this weekend. So so so delightful but so so so annoying to peel. Complain.

I didn't do much this weekend. If you really wanted to see what my weekend looked like, it would be this:
Because I watched 50+ episodes of Golden Girls. I love this show. Dorothy (Beatrice Arthur) is my hero.
This show actually (for some reason) actually makes me excited to get old.

Thanks for reliving this weekend with me!

what's going on in my life: part 4.

Hi. You are probably wondering why my hands are staind dark red. Well I will tell you. See: Update #1.

Update #1: I dyed my hair last night. Not my normal 'Medium Auburn.' This time I went for Dark Intense Auburn. Oh yeah. The process would have been successful if you define success as running out of dye when you still have half of your hair left. And we all know I'm not about to march to the grocery store and get some more with half of my hair applied and half still dry and not colored yet. So here I sit with two different colors on my head. Maybe I am starting a trend and I don't even know it yet. Doubtful. Anyway, somehow my hands (even though I wore gloves) are staind dark red.

Update #2: I think all the ghosts or spirits or whatever it was that was making me act like a crazy person in my own apartment are gone. Yay. Nothing scary has happened in a week. Meaning I don't have to sleep with all the lights on and calling my sisters in the middle of the night anymore.

Update #3: It is Oreos 100th birthday! Happy birthday Oreo. Thank you for making a special edition of Birthday Cake Oreos. I have already bought three containers. I'm pretty you get a cavity from eating just one though. Oh well, that is what dentists are for.

Update #4: It's the weekend. So if i look into my magic weekend crystal ball, I see: me finishing dying my hair, a trip to the library to people watch and get some books, and who knows what else. We will see.

my hair magically grew an impressive seven inches.

JUST KIDDING.
Or as the kids these day say,
"Jk."
Those are just extensions.
I got them from Sally's Beauty Store.
You just clip them in every day as you wish.
So if one day I want long mermaid hair, I clip them in.
If one day I want my normal shoulder length hair, I don't clip them in.
If I want to look like an idiot, I clip only a few extensions in.
Ta-da!

I am professional at getting really bored and restless with my hair. This explains my history of the famous blonde to brunette to blonde to brunette to [accidental] copper to brunette phases that start and end in tears. So if you get bored easy with your hair, I would recommend these clip in extensions.

Oh and here are two things that should be hanging on my fridge right now:

what's going on in my life part 3.

Update #1 - Bad hair days. Have you not had a bad hair day in a while? Well, don't worry, it's probably because I have been having them for everyone on the planet. Yes, I do know that there are larger issues in the world to be concerned about, but honestly, my hair is behaving in ways I didn't know hair could. Part of me is honestly impressed that my hair is capable of doing what it's doing.

Update #2 - I've been dreaming about ice cream lately. I'm confused why I was dreaming of ice cream considering I don't really like it and it makes me cough and cough and cough. And cough. According to the handy-dandy internet that I would surely die without, this is what it means to dream of ice cream:

To see or eat ice cream in your dream denotes good luck, pleasure, success in love and satisfaction with your life. You need to savor the moment and enjoy it.

Update #3 - I've been watching the Friend Zone on MTV. Basically, it is a show where two (male and female) people are BFF's and one has strong feelings for the other. They eventually share their deep feelings for them and pour their hearts out to them in hopes to take the relationship to the next level. Some say yes (wahoo!) some say no (eff that). If I poured my entire heart and soul to my BFF in hopes to be his girlfriend he said "no we are just friends, you are in the friend zone." I would retaliate by putting him in the dead zone. Ha. Not really, but who knows.

Update #4 - Saw this picture of this girl and it made me really miss my bangs. I came this close to cutting them. But instead I just put the scissors down and ran away...

the pros and cons of dying your hair.

Pros:
I refresh the color I currently have.
I no longer have re-growth.
The dye somehow makes my hair unbelievably soft.

Cons:
When I'm waiting for the dye to process and I'm carefully lounging around the apartment, I get the dye everywhere. On the walls, doors, toilet, the ceiling, on food, the floor, my shoulders, my neck etc.

So pretty much, if the new color of my hair doesn't tell you that I just dyed my hair, just look around the apartment at the dye stains and that should tell you.

Yesterday, instead of doing the laundry in the basement laundry room of my apartment building, I went across the street to 2nd Avenue Laundry and did it there. I'm going there from now on.

#1 It's only 25 cents per load instead of the $1.00 a load that my apartment charges.
#2 People watching. People watching. People watching.
#3 I just had fun sitting there with all the other local laundry doers.
#4 I guess Brazilian Drum/Dance classes are big here in the Avenues. On the bulletin board where people post advertising, things for sale and classes, I saw a bunch of Brazilian Drum/Dance classes. Hmm..

Also, I went to Wendover yesterday. Wendover is basically a really ghetto version of Las Vegas. If Las Vegas had a child with Atlantic City.... it would be nothing like Wendover. Wendover is like a glorified gas station casino... but bigger. Anyway, I won $182!!!
Gambling is only fun when you are winning.

just a girl in a hat.

That is a picture of me wearing a hat because I refused to do my hair today.
My day started at six AM.
I'm okay with that, I surprisingly enjoy early morning time.

In a perfect world where I didn't have to work and I could somehow survive with zero income, I would wake up early everyday. Early as in before the sun rises. I would go for walks around the Avenues. I would get ambitious and make pancakes and french toast. I would start doing yoga just so I can tell people I wake up early and do yoga. And yoga is just cool anyway. I would make a nest on the couch and read the newspaper and/or books. If I had a dog, I would take the dog on a walk.
I would this all before the sun rose!
I just don't like waking up early the days I have work because It's like waking up early just to go to a place you don't really want to be at.

goodbye bangs.

Goodbye bangs. I liked you a lot. You were probably my favorite hairstyle I've had in the history of my life. You got me a lot of compliments and also a lot of rude remarks. But I'm looking for a new look for 2011 and I'm sorry, but you have to go. This doesn't have to be forever, we might meet again... in a few years... or months.

no more regrowth, yessss!

I had a long awaited, over-due, much needed/wanted hair appointment today. I was walking around with about two inches of regrowth... and since my hair is colored a very light blond, my regrowth looks really dark in comparison. {note: my natural color is a dirty blond, but the blond I have in it now, makes it look alarmingly dark}

Before the appointment I looked like I could be one of those nappy hoes on Jerry Springer. You know, the ones who slap, hiss and fight other girls for gettin' and foolin' with their man? (oh no she didn't!!) I haven't watched that show in years (that's a lie) but it seems like the girls on that show always have black regrowth on the top of their head and bright yellow hair on the bottom. All I was missing was a three sizes too small tube top and some Spice Girl boots.

So, back to my appointment. I hate the conversations and gossip you hear in a salon. I had to sit for two solid hours and listen about a girl's boyfriend, named Klay.

Hair Dresser 1: He spells it with a 'K' isn't that just so unique? It just seems so... glamorous!

Customer: My Husband's name is Clay, but he spells it with a 'C'!!!

OMG! OMG! omg overload.

This is what I would look like if I was on Jerry Springer:
This is another lie, I don't have cleavage like that. And that's not a spider on my head, that was my regrowth. Have you ever noticed how bad I exaggerate things?

i have a problem.

I made multiple promises to myself, wrote plenty of notes/reminders to myself, that no matter how bored I am of my hair.... I will never, NEVER, NNNNEEEVVVVEEERRRR go back to dark hair. Then I found this picture and I thought, hey, everyone breaks a promise now and then, right? NO! Bad Kaleena! Save yourself from the instant regret.
This was also before I had my bangs. I'm thankful for bangs. Once I saw that over-powering forehead of mine in this mockery photo of a Cabbage Patch Kid, I was instantly reminded why I cut my own bangs.

Below, you will see the Sunday version of Kaleena. I look like this from the time I wallow out of bed in the morning til I crawl back in at night. *I played with the photo effects on the first one. DUH.

look, kaleena is blonde again!

Tis true. I am blonde again. My hair is hating me as of right now... it is completely dried out and very, very damaged on the ends thanks to all the hair dye. In fact, I think I hear it start to whimper when it sees me grab my hair dryer and straightener. How much more can it take?? Sorry hair. I'm going to take better care of you now that my hair is blonde and I'm done coloring.

Never again will I go as dark as I was before. NEVER AGAIN. I'll tell you a secret, I said this same thing back in high school when I went from dark to light too and look what happened. It's not worth the brassy and copper colors and completely fried hair after. I will admit, I really do miss my dark hair, but blonde is more Kaleena.

I think I mostly have Purple Shampoo to thank for all this. Purple shampoo is a MIRACLE. I highly recommend it to anyone trying to boost the blonde tones and highlights in their hair. Thank you purple shampoo for making my journey back to blonde more rewarding. The coolest and most awesome thing about the purple shampoo is that it's actually purple! Suds and all. It's awesome.
